I tried out this jacket in a heavy down pour on a very humid day for about 10 minutes. The jacket kept me dry and did not soak through. The extra length is great and kept my shorts dry. The jacket has a back vent but no underarm zipper vents. This made my arms sweat more and stick to the inside of the jacket. Also, the hood does not have a little bill, which would have helped keep more rain off my face. Overall, while I have my personal nuances, this IS a great jacket that keeps you dry in heavy rain, is comfortable and fits to size.
Had this almost a year. Out of the gate it wasn’t very waterproof. I’ve used the special wash recommended by REI to recharge the waterproofing and done it twice. I use it for dog walking and within 10 minutes of being out in rain the sleeves, shoulders and around pockets absorb rain… what’s the point of spending $200 on a waterproof coat if it just absorbs the water and makes you feel cold and wet.
This is the jacket I will be wearing while working at aid stations and hanging round outside. I don’t see myself wearing it as an active piece because of the length and lack of some breathability features like pit zips, but it’s great for spending time in the rain. I really like that there are inner cinches in the waist so that I can get the jacket to fit me better, not like a big sack. That made a big difference. The two front hand pockets are well positioned for ease of use, and big enough to store some essentials. There are not zippers on the pockets though, so things may get wet if stored in there. The material is really quiet for waterproof material. I enjoyed that, and was able to hear ok with the hood up. The material is also pretty soft which is nice. I’m used to having side cinches on jacket hoods, but this one only has one adjuster in the back. It did fit nicely and stay in place when cinched down. While in the rain, the rain beaded up and rolled off the jacket. I did notice that after about 45 minutes in the rain with the hood up the hood seams had wetted out. But none of the water got through the seam tape which is present throughout the jacket. All and all a great rain trench jacket, with the fun color scheme you expect from Cotopaxi!
After almost 3 months of drought in Texas we finally got a down pour and I was able to try out my new jacket! The extra long length of this jacket kept my torso and the majority of my legs completely dry. I’m 5’8 and it falls just above my knees so for someone shorter it would provide even more coverage. The hood is large and completely covered my head to keep it dry. I love the bright color scheme which is always important to me in a rain jacket especially when I take it hiking to provide good visibility to others. The fit was true to size. I’m usually between a small and medium and felt the medium was great for the sleeve length and left enough room for a pullover underneath if needed in colder months. Can’t wait to take this jacket on some hiking and camping trips this fall. Despite the length it does roll up pretty small and won’t take up too much space in a pack. Highly recommend this jacket for hiking or everyday use (like having to take your dogs out in the pouring rain!)
I bought this for a trip to Norway, and the second day I wore it I tried to adjust the wrist straps for the first time and the Velcro tore away from the material. I do not have the skills to fix it without piercing the material, not to mention this shouldn’t happen on a $200 coat’s second wear.
I don’t know who’s giving this jacket five stars but I don’t think they’re actually wearing it in the rain. The hood is half the size it should be. It needs a good four extra inches on the front. I should not go out and come back with soaked hair with the hood on otherwise this jacket fits like an absolute dream is slimming you can move and it’s long, they would fix the hood. Everything would be so much better.
Very colorful raincoat that does a good job keeping out the rain, but is hot and the zipper is difficult. The colors can be a bit much as well. It’s a bomber jacket, better for colder weather climates, but the zipper regularly gets stuck.
I love this raincoat! I love the colors, I love the design, including the length and the back vent and double zipper. I also really love that Cotopaxi makes their products with recycled polyester. I brought this raincoat with me for an East Coast visit which turned out to be very rainy. The coat is very versatile because it functional and light enough for hikes in the woods, sturdy enough for helping out in the garden, and stylish enough for walking through New York City. As for sizing, I would suggest sizing down one size. I'm pretty thin but I prefer my raincoats one-size up so I can wear sweaters or sweatshirts underneath when I'm walking or hiking in the rain during West Coast winters. This raincoat runs big. Finally, even though its length comes just above my knees, I was delighted to see how small it packs down. Because I travel a lot, I appreciate a raincoat that doesn't take up too much room in my suitcase--and I found that this raincoat folds up nicely into the hood for easy packing. I highly recommend this product!
I was looking for a rain coat to have while I work on a farm this summer. This one is perfect because a) its cotopaxi so you KNOW its beautiful and great quality, and b) it’s longer than a regular coat. I also love that it’s relatively thin, which means it will help with sun protection and heat from the summer sun. It will be easily layer over a winter coat when the time comee, as well. So glad I was able to snag a beautiful colorway on sale!!
My main issue is that there’s no way to cinch down the hood. If it’s windy you have to hold the hood or it’ll blow right off. It also only has a zipper, no buttons or velcro. The zipper itself was fine, not super smooth but not sticky. The colors are so fun, I was disappointed that the functionality wasn’t there.
