Good shoe, made poorly
The rasslers are a good pair of water shoes as far as the high ankle support and the grip on rocks goes. I’ve had now 4 pair of these same shoes and with each new pair, about 2 or 3 weeks into wearing them they fall apart. The sole of the shoe comes apart from the shoe itself. Besides that I love the show but it would be nice to not have to pay for a new pair every month because the glue is so cheap
Great Wading Boot
Love the Rassler 2.0! A great wading boot for fly fishing. I have had mine for over a year and they’ve held up. I did go up one full size. Went with the 11 instead of the 10. I can wear wet wading socks or wear them without socks, which I typically do in the warm South Alabama weather with no issues with blisters. They are lightweight and also great for kayak fishing.
review from a professional rafting guide
So this is my 3ird pair of Astral Shoes. I had first the TR1 mesh, then went with the brewer. This time I wanted a more protective shoe for walking in rivers as a rafting guide. This shoe deliverd. Comfy and just high enough in the back to stay on the foot and protect the sensitive part. But, to me it feels the sole is different from the 2 others model. It feels that it's slipping more. The ohers thing is like the others shoes, they don't last. not even half a season before i can see it start to brake aways. I like the warranty service but sorry Astral it's not in my value to buy a new pair of shoe each season.
Best River Shoes
The real deal. I wore these shoes for 2 full seasons class IV+ river guiding. Thrashed them, wore them daily, and they never fell apart. I ended up keeping them for 3 more years after guiding and they still held up to intermittent use. I had two pairs of Astrals before these and they held up pretty well, but not as well as this model. The toe box and zero drop was always comfortable, I could hike in them without issues. Here’s the thing, I always cleaned the sand out and dried them after getting off the river, but did not leave them out in the sun when I was not wearing them. The rubber sole was a life saver on slick rocks and the high top was secure, never came off on swims.
Soooo comfortable
A water shoe that looks and feels great, surpassing all other water shoes and even other models by Astral. The colors are subtle enough to coordinate with your outfits, they are very lightweight allowing you to feel the Earth, the traction in water is exceptional, and they dry very quickly. However, I have high arches, so walking in these for seven hours became painful without added support. I haven’t tried them with low-profile arch supports yet. Another point worth mentioning is that they don’t have removable soles, but a bamboo fiber sole from my sneakers fits without needing to size up.
COSTA RICA RASSLERS
Had a trip to Costa Rica and was lookijg for the right shoe for me to fish off a boat, walk the streets, hike the jungle, do waterfall tours, walk the beaches and fish and everything in between. These definitely did the trick!! Very comfortable and protective at the same time. Quick drying , and durable! I was very impressed
Great grip
Wore these on a rainy morning hike and the grip was great. Trail was mud and rocks but these shoes handled it great. I was worried the lack of insole support would be an issue but did all 5 miles without foot pain.
Awesome!
First of all this is my second pair of Astral shoes. And I must say, I will ONLY buy Astral shoes for all my three season activities. I use this shoe for fly fishing, mountain biking, and even hiking. It's also a great approach shoe when I'm heading out to the local crag. Great water shoe, although takes a while to dry. My only complaint is the heel loop broke off on one of the shoes after about a month, and I wasn't even tugging on it very hard. Now I'm contemplating cutting off the other to even it up, which I'm not stoked about. For that, I'm taking away one star.
Best water shoe hands down!
I'm a kayak instructor and river guide, I punish these shoes and they continue to hold up well after 3 years. They dry super fast and are so comfortable, I don't bother taking them of when I get off the river even when wet. I've tried other shoes but they fall apart under my 200 ln frame especially as I scramble along rocky river banks and bushwhack my way during rescue situations. I am super stoked to see the Rassler 2.0 back in the line up. I'm definitely ordering a second pair just in case I eventually wear out, loose, or lighting stikes my original pair :-)
Finally Rassled a pair of Rasslers
I've been looking at these works of art for years and finally pulled the trigger and I couldn't be happier! I'm a big fan of look good, feel good, play good, and these shoes hit in all categories. They are sharp, love the color ways and how you can wear these shoes off the water. They are comfortable and the functionality is exactly what I was looking for. I bought these shoes for trips where I'm in and out of a kayak scouting or putting in long days in cold water on multi-day raft trips. I went with a half-size up for use with a dry suit.
