Buying another I like it so much!

Multiple uses from warm vest over a flannel, to colder weather as a layer when snow shoeing or hiking in the Pacific Northwest. They are a perfect layer beneath my Patagonia Zip front waders in the summer in Alaska and over my Patagonia Down vest beneath my Zip Waders while fly fishing in Alaska in September. Absolutely one of the best vest I have worn in a long time. For me the only thing that was a bit challenging was figuring out my size, I am 6' 178 pounds slender build and while the chart had me in a large I ordered a medium and a large, the medium was a perfect fit for me.

It's the bomb-diggity

This is quite warm and it fits well (I'm 5'9" and 165lbs wearing a small). Wool is remarkably versatile. I wear it to work daily and around the house. However, I've been pleasantly warm wearing it on walks in 50 and 40 degree weather. Once it's down in the 30s I find I need to be hiking to generate enough heat. After that it's a good mid-layer under your shell. I'm impressed at how well this wool weave stands up to the wind. In that regard it behaves more like a fleece than your typical wooly base layer. Still breathes nicely though. I like the attention to detail. The hands stay warm with lined pockets. The neck doesn't itch because the collar is lined and the zipper has a closet at the top. The zippers have pulls to make life easy with gloved hands.

Pilling before it was cleaned 1st time

I only wear it for work as I am a professional working in the Vail Valley of Colorado.. Unfortunately, it pilled before it was cleaned the 1st time. Smartwool said there is no recourse. Very disappointing for something so expensive. I would only wear it now for chores outside. It fits nice, though.

Surprised by sizing

I purposely ordered a small because I wanted a very snug fit. Following the sizing guide of 36 to 38 inch chest for small, it should fit me very snug. It does not. Noticeable loose around the chest and belly (I'm trim). True to size around the waist.

I would buy this product again, and I recommend it to all

I have been wearing this vest every day (that it's cool enough to). It is super comfortable and, due to the Merino wool, doesn't get too warm when I go into a warmer environment (e.g., a building that has the heat blasting). I love this thing!!

Everything I have bought from you was in an XL so I. Ought this item in a XL, unfortunately it was way to big and I have sent it back for an exchange for a Large size. This should hit your door soon as I have nailed it over a week ago

Great vest, but just didn't like the fit

I ended up returning the vest. I tried a large, then a medium and I just didn't like the way it was cut. The vest itself is great. I really liked the look and feel of the material. Unfortunately, it just didn't fit me right.

i love this vest

This is my second one. I wear it all the time, as a middle layer or outer garment. My first one got caught on a hook and tore. My only complaint was that it pilled. This one has a different feel. i love this vest

This vest has a nice fit and is super warm. The Smart Wool is very lightweight and efficient. I live in Minnesota, so we wear vests for at least half of the year. Give it a try!

Glad these are availabe again!

Really like it. Fells great to touch and on. I think it is cut a little long though, I am 5'11" tall and it bunches in the lower chest area sitting down. But overall a great vest.
