Nicely designed, warm, comfortable
This is the nicest pair of winter boots I have owned. They are very comfortable, are particularly easy to get on and off, and are warm. I use them for typical outdoor activities like snow removal and also for cycling on sub-20 degree days. My riding pants cover the top half of the boots (snugly) and my feet stay reasonably warm for a good 60-90 minutes. Note that I said warm but not hot. The boots are insulated but I still need to wear appropriate layers (when riding) including lower body base layers and good socks. I appreciate that they flex just enough to be able to pedal without chafing. So far, the construction seems solid and have noticed nothing wearing out prematurely.
Solid Cold Weather Boots
I wear a size 13 and there is plenty of room. The "laces" don't go down very far on the toe box so the foot can feel a little loose, but it's perfect for wool socks. They are lighter than I was expecting. As long as the cable lace system lasts, I could see these lasting a long time.
Worth every penny!!!
After hours of searching for winter boots that actually keep your feet warm I took a shot in the dark with these even though there weren't any reviews on it and to my surprise they are as advertised. I stay in chicago and winter in chicago is as tough as it gets. Today was 25 degrees and I waited for an hour at a bus stop, my feet did not get cold not even a little bit. Boot suggests that it work up to -60 degrees and I can believe it. Get your exact shoe size fits perfectly with a little wiggle room at the toes in case you want to wear thick socks which I doubt you will need. As far as durability I haven't had them long but I do walk a lot and so far so good. If you need warm boots these are worth every penny and that's coming from someone cheap.
Best hiking boots ever!!
Best hiking boots ever!! I purchased these boots after purchasing and breaking two sets of Kahtoola EXO spikes at 60 each that clipped onto my regular winter boots. Since buying the Polar Vortex 1200, I have hiked in temperatures down to 14 degrees, and my feet were perfectly warm. I purchased the metal spikes separately because I needed more traction, it was really easy to swap the soles in just minutes.
Worth the money
Wore these in Minot with the temperature being -2 F while working. They kept my feet nice and dry and more importantly warm. I was a little leery of them not having a removal liner, but my socks and feet stayed dry after being in the snow all day while working.
Not hiking boots
Well made boots but I found them difficult to tighten for walking in
