The Everyday Carry Bag
Ive gotten around d two years of almost daily use of this bag. I’ve brought it to three countries, hikes a half dozen trails, and been to countless classes with it. It’s still in fantastic condition. As a one or even two day pack, it’s perfect. More than that and you’re really pushing it. My only real gripe is the lower back cushion; it’s kind of weird, and can make adjusting the bag really annoying. All of the straps feel very superfluous as well, they hang around a lot, and the bag fits best when everything is very tight.
Awesome pack for engineers on the go!
I've had many other good packs over the years working as a network engineer that has to bring a plethora of tools with me through TSA, going site to site, and I spend quite a bit of time with a pack on my back as a result. Every other pack either fails at the stitching, or hurts my back or upper back/neck. The Blitz 30 just works for me, and conforms to my back enough to where I don't have any pain in my upper/lower back. I am 5'10", and ordered the small/medium. I was able to custom size the back panel very easily to fit me perfectly. What an awesome system! On it's own without accessories, the Blitz 30 holds everything better than similarly sized packs around the 30L size, which is the limit I'm willing to stuff underneath a plane seat. I purchased a few of the small mystery ranch simple gear pouches in different colors so that I know what is what, and I stuff those into the internal vertical side pouches, and I have a soft-sided specialty tool bag for my network tools as well as the small mystery ranch padded power/cord pouch (mission control) that both fit perfectly into the bottom middle portion of the bag, which leaves a ton of room in the middle of my pack to hold things like a tablet and steamdeck. This pack holds 4x of the small void bags, and 1-2 small mission control bags with relative ease in the main compartment, with a ton of room left over if needed. I also put my firearm in that middle space in it's holster when not travelling via plane when transporting off-person. I also purchased a pack of web keepers to tidy up the additional hanging webbing, so don't forget those. The laptop pouch holds my Dell Latitude 5430 Rugged laptop, but the side zipper on the back portion does not work so well for my laptop due to it's thickness. However, that is not so much a concern for me, because I can just open the zipper below the admin pouch anyway to grab it which is another great feature. If your laptop is less thick than say my laptop or something like a Panasonic Toughbook, you will not have that problem. Basically any laptop thicker than 3/4" might give you issues when trying to pull it out of that side access zipper. Speaking of which - The admin pouch is huge, and very usable! The fit, finish, stitching, zippers and overall construction of the pack is second to none. I was highly impressed with the materials they used to construct this pack, and even the small pouches I purchased. This brand is expensive, but I believe it is very much worth the money so long as you use it daily, which I do. I consider this pack to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. Thank you, Mystery Ranch!
Perfect on the go carry-on!
I have had this bag for about 3 months. I love all the storage compartments. I keep my headphones in a Mission Control pouch, and it fits perfectly in the top compartment. Even fully stuffed, it fits under the seat in front of me on the airlines. The only modification I made was I replaced the top two compresssion strap buckles with G-hooks. The buckles got in the way of the zipper when unzipping the full length front flap. This bag is my everyday carry, and the material holds up well to lots of abuse.
Durable and good organization
I bought this a couple weeks ago, and since then, I've already been using it as my EDC, and taken it on a few hikes and adventures. The pack carries better than any small pack I've had, and organizes really well. Even with a change of clothes and some odds and ends in the main compartment I've always had some space left over to cram miscellaneous items, or foraged items, eg., a bag of wild apples my son and I found on a hike. Very comfortable pack too, great suspension for a small pack. I think I could comfortably do a 1-3 night trip in the summer with this pack.
Better than I expected
I've been carrying the MR 2-day assault pack for many years, and I like it. The thing I was missing was more external organization. MR created this pack and met my needs. Super convenient for those little articles and easy access. Now my EDC pack is the Blitz. My laptop feels well-protected and still has enough room to put a tablet and other gear in. The pack also feels small, but I can still pack more than my 2-day assault. It also doesn't feel like my gear is bouncing everywhere. One thing that I would like to see is CCW on this pack. That would be a perfect pack. Overall, I'm satisfied and comfortable with a day hike. Hope that helps
Best bag I’ve ever owned
I’m a Marine Corps veteran, and current Deputy U.S. Marshal, and needless to say I’ve gone through my fair share of bags and packs. This bag is very versatile, lightweight, tactical, and yet surprisingly durable and practical for everyday carry to work. This bag can be used for laptop and gear for everyday office work, or tactical gear for hunting a fugitive in the wilderness for days straight. I highly recommend this pack and am not getting paid to provide this review.
Great multi use pack
I got this pack to primarily use for tactical competition and also for bug out readiness. It's going to work well for multiple uses. I can store my competition gear in it, I can load it for bug out, I can use it for backpacking, I'll use it for multi-day hunts, and probably something else I haven't done yet. I like the pocket variations and zipper access locations. I only wish the waist belt had a little more padding where it hugs the iliac crest. I can put my hydration bladder in it when necessary or use water bottles in the side pockets. I have other packs specifically designed for other uses so this pack is a great choice that solves a couple basic needs I have very well
Awesome pack
After using Mystery rancher packs in the Military, I decided that I wanted to buy one to replace my EDC pack. I watched so many videos online of reviews and found that the Blitz 30 kept coming up as a solid pack, durable, priced right, and offered enough versatility for every day carry. I am so happy with this pack. The fitment is awesome (I am 5’8”) I love the way bag opens and all the pouch’s. This bag has exceeded all of my expectations in a short period of time. The “laptop Garage” pocket is awesome. Works great with my daily lunch bag. I really wish I would have started looking at these bags years ago.
Good but not great
I bought this bag about a month ago. The materials are great, the constructability is exactly what I was looking for, and it should last a long time. The biggest issue is the size of the main compartment. I wish you had a 35L, but without the "pouch" or "cinched roll-up" currently on the 35L Blitz. The design of the zippers on the 30L Blitz is awesome. Have you considered making a replica of the 30L in a larger size? I would recommend a Mystery Ranch bag for its construction and materials, and the fact that you will repair the bags. I would just be honest with them about the size of this particular bag.
Might just be perfect.
This may be a perfect travel bag for me. I wanted something compact enough to be comfortable as an addition to my roller bag when traveling, big enough to hold anything that I dont want in that bag, and functional enough to be willing to have with me all the time. This could be perfect. I can use a compact camera bag to hold my DSLR, four lenses, batteries and charger, a tech pouch to hold all of my computer plugs and cables, my iPad, 14in MBPro, and have plenty of room for a tripod, all with room to spare in the main compartment. side access for the laptop is great to sneak it out without having to get the whole bag open. straps help secure anything in the pair of external pockets.
