Buy a rain cover and call it the ideal day pack.
My favorite day pack. It’s tough, and has a lot of room. You can fit a flexlite, hammock, down quilt, tablet, etc etc etc. i do recommend buying an organizational cube though for small things like chords or drink mix. This bag is essentially large pockets only. I like that thought for my intended use. It’s easy to customize your organizational needs. I carry around two hydro flasks in it. They can slip out if you bend over too far. Just loop them into the top side retention straps.
Bag of my travel dreams
I was packing for a 10 day trip to the UK for business. As part of a 2-person video crew I needed my “carry-on” to be a heavy pelican case of camera gear. I needed a backpack as a “personal item”. 4 hours before I head to the airport, I realize my smaller Osprey pack won’t cut it. I watched one YouTube video on this, got in my car and drove to REI. This pack rocks my face off. It distributes weight beautifully. It has thoughtful design and is capacious. I’m an admitted overpacker and this bag was like “girl, is that all you got.” When I got to London it also worked as my daily commuter bag and a wonderful pack for a short day trip. I have zero complaints or modifications. This bag is the best relationship I’ve had.
Perfect for hiking, commuting, travel.
This backpack can’t be beat for size, comfort, and ease of use. It has 3 main compartments that can accommodate a laptop and water bladder, side pockets for snacks or water bottles, a pocket for glasses, and an easily accessed stuff pocket. Interior compartments have convenient inner sections for tech or other small necessities. Waist belt and chest strap nicely redistribute the load. The zippers are all excellent and the pack expands impressively to manage 30L. The exterior grab strap can also function to slide over some roller luggage bags. If I had one suggestion for Osprey it would be to slightly widen the waist belt.
This is a Great Bag
I absolutely love this bag. I bought it to replace the Northface Recon bag, which I had for a decade. Northface recently "updated" the bag and removed its best features. The Osprey Nebula has everything the Recon lost -- strong armstraps sewed into the bag rather than sewed to a thin strip that is then sewed to the bag; it has three wide, deep inner compartments; 2 deep sturdy side pockets; there is no mesh front pocket; and the overall look of the bag is sleek. I am a 5' 4/12" woman. The bag fits and feels great on my body. All I can say is don't change. You've gotten this right.
Stuff can do two things!
This backpack is everything I need for an everyday commuter bag. It's comfortable when walking a long way, has a secure, padded pocket for my computer and another for an iPad or book so great for travel, (or a water reservoir for hiking with tube access!) and roomy pockets that can be packed down when not required. It looks great and fits well with the chest strap and waist belt. I'm quite short at 5'3" and quite small, so carrying heavy things on a long walk requires a good bag and I've found it!
Well Designed
Very well designed and holds my 17inch laptop with no problems while still being comfortable to bike with. Zippers and very high quality and seems like it’s gonna a while. Plenty of pockets and compartments too.
Really practical - love it
This pack worked great on a recent trip abroad. Pack it lightly and cinch it down, and it looks like a normal backpack, not bulky or anything. But, fill 'er up, and keep filling, and it actually fits a TON of stuff! The organization of space really worked well for me - a laptop compartment, a small things pocket, a "medium" things pocket, and then one big open space in the middle to fill in any way (or not) as needed. I also liked that the bottom pair of cinches cross the side pockets (e.g., holds in hand sanitizer), and the big mesh keeper on the outside is great for anything dirty or wet (like the rain jacket I stuffed in it one day). I got the black color, and I think it could even pass for a work bag.
My Do it All Backpack! Daily, Hike, Travel
Bought this with REI 20% off coupon during March sale, but it’s so good I would buy at full price. I’ve taken this as a personal item with frontier airlines if not packed to the brim. I’ve taken this on day hikes, I love the pockets and compartments to use as a daily driver, and excellent for travel. It has a small pocket for earbuds, another pocket for electronics, a wide pocket for whatever, and a computer sleeve that I use for my iPad (I don’t carry a computer). The water bottle sleeves are great too! The outer mesh pocket was great to store my rain jacket or down jacket whatever you need for the weather. I would highly recommend this pack to anyone- if you want to hike, travel, or need a daily driver
The finest daypack I have ever used!
I rarely rate purchases. I could not, not rate this one. After using many backpacks over the years including looking at about five others recently I ordered the Osprey Nebula 32. This is a FANTASTIC pack. I am now walking to/from work, and need to carry files as well as 'stuff'. This daypack is set up with everything I could possibly want. The notebook section is separate and very well padded, also easily used to carry many files. There are many other pockets that are incredibly useful. I believe that Osprey provides the most comfortable and adaptable straps, and the Nebula 32 has met this expectation as well. It has a very comfortable handle as needed, and a spot to put on a rear blinking light. It includes both a sternum and waist strap if interested, along with water bottle holders. I could not imagine finding a better pack to use to carry files/laptop/stuff to and from work, and also to double as a pack to use on the weekends.
Engineering Student Approved
At the forefront, I will say that reviews stating the pack is top heavy due to the amount of pockets located at the top of the bag is a very true. However, that is my only gripe about the bag. This is a really good pack for engineering students. As a college student, you have to have books, laptops, notes, folders, jackets, lunch...it gets to be a lot when it comes down to it. This backpack is capable of handling all of it, and proving to be quite durable as well. The laptop area is also super handy, as you can have your laptop in the sleeve, charger and accessories in the other sleeve, and additional gear in between the two. It was the only bag I could find where I was able to fit my engineering laptop and gear in one pocket, separated from my other work and school gear.
