Functional but somewhat disappointing

Bought this to replace my favorite carry on rolling suitcase ever (REI Stratocruiser,--the retractable handle won't retract, and it is no longer made unfortunately--it also came with a very useful daypack) as it is of similar style (a few ounces lighter). And am a long time believer of Osprey packs. This suitcase is only OK. The best thing is it is lightweight and easy to maneuver. However, I may return: --the zippers are terrible and it is not easy to open them. They have only a small cord instead of a tab (breakage or loss waiting to happen) and do not run smoothly. The suitcase also does not hold nearly as much as my old REI one--the fabric/frame is more rigid, there is no outside pocket you can stuff a jacket into on the fly, it lacks internal pockets on the sides (but does have good ones in the "lid"), and the pocket at the top by the handle (good for small things you want to access) takes up part of the internal room of the suitcase. REI--bring back the Stratocruiser!

Light, effective, well-designed...did I say light?

I got this to replace an ultralight Eagle Creek carry-on roller - and have taken it on several trips. Highly recommend for frequent travelers who like to walk-on, walk-off. Pros: Super light! I like the internal compression straps with cloth between to snug down clothes. Smooth extension of T-handle. Padding on outer large pocket allows for carrying a laptop. Nice internal pockets / organizers Cons: Sideways zip on the main compartment makes sense yet I'm used to top-down zips. The zippers are smaller and are snagging a bit going around the corners - probably still breaking in. I paired this with Ultralight pack and it's an unbeatable combo. Now if Osprey would just make an Ozone briefcase... ;o)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this bag! Lightweight, with good grips (like the metal bar that also functions as a foot) to help lift into and out of overhead bins on planes. I owned the previous model for around a decade and at least a hundred trips (mostly business). I only upgraded to this newer model when my old one developed a fault with its handle that Osprey was unable to repair (but they have such a great warranty they sent me this new model for free!). It was sad to let go of my old bag but this new model has some really nice improvements and I'm looking forward to another decade or more of use!

Assembled incorrectly

The handle is attached to the bag via a two-segment, extendable, oval tube. A spring-loaded pin fitted into the bottom of the top segment locks the tube into place, either fully collapsed or extended. When my bag arrived a couple days ago the pin was stuck within the tube - you could see that the pin was present, but the pin would not extend to perform its function. Consequently, the tube just flopped around, neither locking collapsed nor locking extended. I slipped a small, flat screwdriver between the side of the pin and a hole in the tube and wiggled it around for about 15 minutes until - Bingo! - the pin popped out into what I presume to be the correct configuration. The factory should do a quick QC check of the handle-locking mechanism of these bags before the product leaves the premises.

What's with these terrible zippers??!

I have purchased Osprey packs and wheeled backpacks. This very lightweight bag could be ideal if it were not collapsing on itself unopened. It's as though it was crushed. The stitching around the zippers is flawed so that the fabric designed to cover the zipper actually feeds into the mechanism causing it to jam. I really wanted to loved this zippy little carry on :persevere:. It's going back. It's it a one off? A miscreant? Or Osprey are you lowering your quality?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been very happy with my new Osprey Ozone Carry-On! I’ve used it traveling in Japan for several weeks, & am now using it in Mexico. It holds more than it would seem, & there are two compartments that can be used for sandals or snorkeling equipment or books. Also, there is a top zippered area for special items. The best thing is that it is clearly a carry/on - no challenges from airlines, some of which are setting smaller limits for carry/ons!

Light and roomy for a few days away

So light and great dimensions. . . . I've had a couple of 3 and 4 nights away including g gym kit. Rolls so well. very light and looks great. I got this in the osprey sale so it was a bargain too compared to no sale price. Expensive but when u factor in the osprey lifetime warranty that gives piece of mind as over the past few years I've bought a couple of cheap cases and probably had 6 years from them all! Let's see how this lasts.

Disappointing

I originally purchased the Sojourn 80 and LOVED it. It was sturdy and comfortable to roll. I had to return it because it was slightly too small for my extended travel. I still needed a smaller bag so ordered the Ozone. Compared to another spinner carry-on which had me zipping through the airport the Osprey was clumsy and frustrating to use. I have used it on three flights. Two of which were international. Rolling it down the aisle it bumped against seats because it's a little wide. It would topple over several times while dragging it to my connecting flights. The grip actually hurt my hands. It looks like it holds a lot. It doesn't. Even with packing cubes this bag is a bust because the bag is shallow and has an angled shape that's not apparent in the photo. I'm going to try to sell in while in Asia and get something else for my one year of travel. I can't handle another flight with this thing.

Wish it had lockable zippers

Although it is permitted as carry on luggage on larger planes, it doesn’t fit smaller/budget airline overhead bins. Unfortunately the zippers don’t have loops large enough to accommodate a lock so you have to rely on small zip ties which isn’t really secure. The zips are very stiff & ‘feels’ like it won’t last. It’s a pity cause it’s a bit expensive for not having this feature
