Reliable all around bike
The bike was advertised as Shimano crankset, but came with an FSA crankset. Besides that, great all around bike. I would recommend this as a commuter or exercise bike; not the greatest control over roots/rocks. Lightweight, so its easy to carry into apartment/office. Additionally, it has many mounts for bags and accessories if you need when commuting/long rides. If you're looking into the Topstone line, I would recommend buying the Topstone 1. The brakes on the Topstone 3 & 4 don't have great stopping power and the groupset on the Topstone 1 makes it worth the $200-300 difference from the Topstone 2.
"Specs and images are subject to change"
First time buying a bike online from REI; was very excited to find several Topstone bikes on-sale. Like most bike enthusiasts, the components are main factor in which bike and which version to go with. Having the quality GRX cranks and derailleur were a key reason I selected this bike over cheaper variants, so you can imagine my disappointment to find that my new bike is outfitted with some FSA nonsense with an entirely different and oddly sized bottom-bracket, meaning it will be a whole process to bring back up to spec. The brakes are fair for relatively flat rides, but definitely lack the stopping power I would like for hillier rides - but that was expected going into this. Coming from a MTB background, this bike feels super light and nimble on the road and it lets me get more miles in when the trails aren't an option.
Daily Driver
Great commuter. Decent road. Iffy trails. If you're looking into the Topstone line, then you should buy the Topstone 1. Brakes on Topstone 3 & 4 are poor. The groupset on the Topstone 1 is worth spending the extra money in comparison with the Topstone 2. Else, look into another bike!
Pro bike, Pro bike shop!

I LOVE THE CANNONDALE TOPSTONE 1 I PURCHASED FROM REI I REALLY WANTED A CARBON BICYCLE, BECAUSE OF THE LIGHTER WEIGHT, YET THE ECONOMY AND MY FINANCES ARE NOT WHERE I THINK THEY SHOULD BE... THE FUTURE CAN BE ANYTHING I WANT IT TO BE... ALWAYS HOPE FOR THE BEST,,, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. DON'T TELL THE GIRL'S WORKING AT REI. Good deal, solid bike
Nice and sturdy gravel bike, excellent for bikepacking, higher end components for a very good price. Totally recommended. The only thing is that I would prefer V over disc brakes but I guess I am just kinda old fashioned.
