I’ve had mine for for 7+ years now and it’s been with me on so many adventures. The fit is great and quality impeccable. It needs to be impregnated from time to time however. But I will highly recommend it!
So far, so good. I haven't used this for long or in harsh or technical conditions yet, but so far I can see that this is going to be a great purchase. The fabric is more flexible than the previous version of the Eco-Shell. I am not as crazy about the flexible visor on the hood, though I can see how it could come in handy to have the ability to adjust it. I really like the bottom button to allow airflow. I would prefer if Fjallraven put the cinch adjusters that are on the waistband closer to the front so you don't get a bulge on the sides, but these are minor quibbles. This is a quality jacket that delivers in both form and function.
Really good quality shell, with no PFC's! I have had TNF's versions a couple of times and honestly, they break down so quick, that it's impossible to get any long term use out of it. The colors are limited, but the plum color I found is fine for me and my purpose. I like the chest pockets, these are handy when I have a pack on, and need some storage, and as I would love hand pockets, I honestly prefer having the ventilation instead, besides, who can walk with their hands in their pockets while hiking, I am afraid I will fall and need my hands out to protect my face! For fit suggestion: I am 5'8" and needed a large for arm length, and having it looser means I can layer it comfortably for colder days. kelly a.
The problem with this jacket is its hood. It is just not large enough to do its job. And one can see it on the photos already: it does not reach forward enough to keep the rain off the face. Yes, it's a fine looking jacket (I have the dark blue one), looks classy and is rain proof etc. But the hood is just plain badly designed and a rain jacket without a hood that works ... So, no, I would not recommend it and I regret having bought it. It is also quite narrow in the body, so you can't fit a lot underneath. Bottom line: a rain jacket for summer with a non-working hood
I've been in love with the Eco-Shell material for a couple of years now! I originally purchased the Ovik Eco-Shell Parka and then decided upgraded to the Keb about a year ago for a more adventure friendly fit. The shell is really stretchy and breathable, and it really doesn't compromise the waterproofness. I've used this all seasons and it has held up so nicely against both the wind and the wet. So excited to have found a sustainable option for something that holds up against the weather!
I wear my Keb Eco-Shell for a range of activities but predominantly for bike commuting and backcountry skiing. The Eco Shell fabric is stretchy, more breathable and most importantly more environmentally friendly than Goretex. The only pockets being on the chest takes a little while to get used to but is actually a preferential design feature for activity. You don’t have to worry about the contents of your pockets jabbing into your sides during every pedal stroke or step on the skin track. One of my favorite features is the large hood that fits over a bike helmet or ski helmet. This prevents the wind from sneaking down your neck on those cold windy days. It fits a bit looser so a light padded jacket will fit underneath with ease (see keb padded hoodie). The double zipper is also awesome to aid in ventilating or accessing pockets from underneath layers.
Even if the jacket works well I think it is a design flaw that there are vents instead of side pockets, which I think renders the jacket more or less useless for walks with my dog. Due to the construction of the vents there is no way to sew in some type of pockets either. Spent to much money on a rain jacket I very seldom use (my old rain jacket with pockets still works better).
Love the Eco-Shell jacket. Have worn it on a bike tour through Vancouver (in the drizzle!) and all across London, and of course in my current location of Minnesota. Very comfortable and functional, the jacket has been perfect for my needs. I do love the red color that it came in and hope that Fjällräven will continue that color. Thank you for such a wonderful jacket!!!
I have had this jacket for under a year. I wore it today on an 8 mile walk, and got completely soaked. All the way through. There is no way this is even vaguely waterproof.  I love Fjallraven products, and have several, which are all good quality, and have lasted and performed well. I don’t know whether quality control has failed, but this jacket is bad.
Everything about this jacket is great with the exception of two things: 1) the main pockets (they're not actually pockets, they're side vents. I keep forgetting and putting my phone or something in there and it just falls to the ground), and 2) the sleeves (they're a little bit on the long side, but they're adjustable).
