Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and Âľ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Extremely comfortable
I received my Swiftland training shorts right about the time it turned 15F outside, so my outdoor time was a bit limited. Right out of the package, the fabric has a great feel with a tight weave that prevents chafing or scratching. The seams are quite sturdy and between gym, outdoors, and recurrent washing no loose strings. I appreciate the generous pockets on both sides, but also a large enough space for a phone on the waistband. The army green color accessorized well with my outdoor items. I would also like to try this same model in a capri length if available. The short comes just above my knee, with good thigh coverage. The waist sits slightly above my belly button, which I find quite comfortable for running. No slipping down while on the move
Almost awesome!
I enjoyed many things about these training shorts. The pockets were well placed and held my iPhone 12 just fine. The shorts (more like thigh/knee length) material was also very comfortable and didn’t feel too thick or too thin. The waistband was wide and comfortable. There were, however, some issues. One slight drawback was that some of the seam threads are beginning to unravel/fray with only 3-4 wears (see photo of the frayed thread around the waist). Another issue was that the waist rolls down and slightly slides down as you move. Tying the drawstring tighter certainly helped. I received this free product in exchange for an honest review.
Great material and fit but shows sweat
Great material and fit but shows sweat. Wore these in the gym, sweated, and looked like I peed myself. Disappointing.
Good storage, slightly small
Got these on sale, quality is nice, lots of room for gels, phone, etc and everything felt secure. Re: the sizing (mentioned in many reviews) - I took a chance and got a small, which is my usual size in REI branded clothes, and they fit but are a little difficult to get on initially. Once I had them on I ran 12 miles in them with no issues, and I do think they stretched out a bit on the run. Definitely did not need the drawstring though. If you're between sizes or curvy, you may want to size up but I don't think the sizing is as far off as some of the reviews I read suggested.
Great compression shorts
I really like these shorts. I went with a medium and they looked really tiny when I opened them but they have a lot of stretch so it worked out fine. Although they are stretchy they are firm and hold you in. Very comfortable to work out and run in. Love the deep side pockets and very quick drying. I don’t put these in the dryer. Very well made with good stitching, will buy again, might go up one size. It’s been a little chilly here so I’ve been wearing them inside but can’t wait to wear them on my next outdoor hike. Great color and perfect length too!
Keep buying more of these shorts
So I’m in my 70s. I still organize my life around “athletics” and have been a Coop member longer than many of you have lived. So don’t dismiss a geriatric review - superb product.
Love these shorts!
I love these shorts! I ordered several brands of similar shorts for walking primarily, and wanted something longer as my thighs rub a bit causing regular running shorts to constantly ride up and need awkward adjustments. I am a M in women’s pants, and sized up two sizes to an XL for these. I am 5’2”, 150 lbs. I don’t like compressing/super tight clothing, but the XL is soooo comfortable. They look really sporty, and they solve my thigh/adjusting shorts problem. I ended up purchasing a pair of the full length pants in XL as well and look forward to wearing those when the weather gets cooler.
I wanted these to be perfect
The REI On The Trail running tights are my absolute favorite. I have 3 pairs. My hope was that these would replace them, since it seems that the design I loved has been discontinued. I got them in my usual size and was pumped to put them on and go for a run when they arrived. But I couldn't get these tights up over my hips! The waistline does NOT have enough flexibility. The rest of the tight looked like the would fit me just fine with tons of stretch and flex, but the waist is tiny with barely any give. Everything about these would have been perfect...if I could have actually put them on. Not made for folks with large hips and a tiny waist, that's for sure. I had to take them back to the store and I'm still looking for another option to replace my beloved On The Trail tights.
Great idea for shorts with some noticeable issues
So there is a little to discuss about these shorts. Pros are they are comfortable and they don't ride up or down when running the trails. The color green is a pretty shade and they are very soft to the touch. Now for the cons: There is no give or stretch in the waistband. So it feels like pulling up a girdle. If you have wide hips then I don't know what to offer. This is a shame since there is a drawstring in the waist but has little use. Also whomever decided to put stitching in the inside of the thighs needs to go run a mile in these shorts. The seams rub against each other and sounds like a male dolphin going through puberty. I can only imagine that this will be the first place to go after rubbing against each other miles after miles. Overall I do like these shorts but I have to say buy with caution. Definitely try to buy in store if you can so you can try them on before buying.
Comfy, easy, true to size
Super comfortable and practical, but the top of the waistband is bound too tightly and I keep hearing threads break when I pull these up. The fit is great in every other way, true to size as well. Even on a hot and swampy humid day, these have been very comfortable to run in. I like the pockets - an iPhone fits in there, although I’m typically only carrying a house key and a couple other tiny / non-bouncy essentials. I’ve been washing them on a cool cycle and air drying and they are holding up great despite the fact I’ve heard all those threads breaking. I got these at a discounted price and they’ve been every bit as nice as other fancier brands that I’ve worn.
