Perfect for daily use and airline personal item

I went too many years with a day pack too large for my 5’4” size. This one fits my back much better. And it works as a personal item for most airlines. No need for a hip belt. But the little cross-chest strap makes a difference at keeping the bag in a comfortable place if on the trail. The inside is spacious and the laptop pocket and sleeve at the back helps organize, as does the deep zipper pocket at the front. The only thing that would bring it over the top would be some reflective tape.

Great for Travel

I got this backpack to use as my personal item for a trip to Italy. The grab handles at the top are nice for getting out from under an airplane seat or overhead bin. It has plenty of space inside with just enough pockets and places to put things without being overly complicated. Along with my items, I still had room for a small purse to use at my destination. It is lightweight when empty but sturdy when packed and comfortable when wearing, even over a winter coat. Nothing fancy, but well-made and just what I was looking for in a travel bag.

A great travel/everyday pack

I bought the Atom pack just before a weeklong vacation, and it was a great companion. The size is exactly what I wanted - big enough for what I needed on an in-flight personal item, but not so big that it could get cumbersome or obtrusive in a city environ. It fits far more than it looks like it does due to its boxy shape, but it’s still compact enough to leave enough room for my feet when under the airplane seat in front of me. The oversized stretch water bottle pockets on the side will fit just about any water bottle while not impacting internal volume - in fact, I fit two 20 oz Camelbak Eddy’s in one pocket. The detachable padded sleeve is a nice touch, as well. It’s also quite comfortable, even fully loaded. The only demerit is that it could use a bit more internal organization features. But overall, I’d definitely recommend this bag.

Great daypack / college essentials bag

Great compact pack. Love the tote handles, the big deep outside front pocket, and the laptop sleeve and divider in the pack. Previously owned the Patagonia Refugio for nursing school and loved it but didn’t need all the space. This backpack can fit a lot but if you’re using it for school be aware that it will only stretch about five or six inches so if you carry wide textbooks or binders you may only be able to fit a few. I love both the water bottle pockets but find that most of my bottles want to fall out. Please add the same buckle straps on the water bottle packets as the Refugio 26L because then you can strap a bottle in for extra support. Otherwise that it’s very cute and nice option to carry as a tote

Great Day-Use Travel Pack

The 20L size is the perfect day-use pack, especially for vacations. The shoulder strap cushion is just right and well positioned when used with the chest strap. The elastic side pockets expand quite a bit and hold really well. Downside...it only has 2 main zip pockets. I wish it had a little more organization. Perhaps a small zip pocket for small items like glasses, pens, chapstick, hair ties etc. An internal strap for keys would also be very handy.

Great lightweight day pack - good for travel too!

I got this backpack for a trip - it was the perfect size for under an airplane seat. It fit my laptop, small camera and various other things. It is lightweight but well made. It can fit two water bottles in the side pockets and there's even a pass-through for a water bladder where I stuck my laptop.

Can be used as Lufthansa personal item.

Needed a bag for a family member flying Lufthansa. The guidelines for a personal item are incredibly small but this bag is just the right size. I'm sure many people can get away with a larger personal item but I wanted to avoid any hassle at the gate.

Bought this for my son in elementary school. It’s beyond light, fits his folder and lunch perfectly with two water bottles holders on the side.

Personal Item carry on bag international airplanes

I got this for international travel so it is smaller than what I am used to bringing on board domestic US airlines. I like that it doesn't have any extra pockets inside to take up space except the laptop sleeve. I jettisoned the included padded laptop envelop as too bulky and was glad it was removable. The two side pockets on the outside are stretchy enough to hold a large water bottle in one and I put my pouch of charging cables and electric plugs adaptors and misc. in the other. Other pluses are Patagonia's usual good quality workmanship, the adjustable sternum strap and the top handles to carry the bag when it is not on your back. I stopped short of 5 stars because of an omission I really wish the bag had: a bungee cord lacing system on the outside to hold a jacket. If Patagonia would make a next generation of this bag with the lacing I would buy it right away!

The Perfect Bag

The perfect purse/day hike/bike commute-sized bag! The tan has a slightly pink hue (which i personally love) this bag is just the best size and I love that I can have my camelbak reservoir in there for longer day hikes and bike rides to still have easy access to water. SO happy with this purchase!
