I love these!
I needed a good pair of mountain bike shoes but did not want to go with clip ins. These are super comfortable and the sole is the perfect amount of sticky to make me feel very secure on the pedals. More stiff than a regular hiking or running shoe, these are still really comfortable and secure if I'm having to walk parts of the trails and cute enough to wear for post biking beers :) Seem to be average width; I have a somewhat narrow foot but these still fit fine. I recently ended up on a trail with LOTS of rocky creek crossings and ended up having to wade through a couple times. They drained ok while biking and took about a day to dry completely out. When I've gotten them a little muddy, it was easy to just brush the dried mud off.
Love these! Super breathable.
Best 5.10s I’ve owned. I’ve owned 5 pairs of 5.10s and these are the best, hands down. Their grip on the pedals is the same as the other FreeRider pros I’ve had, but the breathability of the uppers is what sets them apart. They seem very durable, sturdy, and up to robust back country riding, but the canvas breathes so much better. I find myself wearing them as day to day shoes as well as for their intended use.
Amazing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely love these trainers. So good for mountain biking
Looks good but so stiff!
I like the style and color of these shoes, and they fit true to my regular size. Unfortunately they don't feel very comfortable. The material is very stiff, the ankle is too short and rubs on the wrong place, and the sole is very hard. When walking on hard surfaces it makes a lot of noise, like walking in dress shoes or heels! I was expecting these to be like comfortable sneakers that you just put on and feel good in. I'm hoping that the material will eventually relax, but so far I'm not a fan of this recycled ocean plastic.
Great just great
The Five Ten Freerider is a solid choice for riders who want a blend of performance and casual style. The Stealth rubber outsole provides excellent grip on flat pedals, making you feel locked in even on rough descents. They’re durable, with reinforced stitching and a tough upper that holds up well against trail abuse. Comfort is top-notch for all-day rides, though they can get a bit warm in hotter temps. While not as stiff as clipless-specific shoes, they strike a great balance for trail and enduro riders who prefer flats.
Fits well but insufficient food protection
This shoe fits, but the canvas material does not provide sufficient protection for your foot during a mountain biking fall. The canvas material is thin and during a very slow fall which with minimal impact and minimal speed my toe and side of my foot was injured due to the limited protection that the shoe offers. So if you never fall I recommend this shoe, but if you fall on even a slow low impact fall, I do not recommend this shoe.
My favorite biking shoes
These are easily my favorite shoes to bike in. The toe box is nice and wide, which allows room for my feet when they swell. They feel sturdy and have a great grip. The padding on the top has dampened blows from falls and tools alike. They give you one less thing(footing) to worry about when riding.
Awesome mtb shoes
These are by far the best flat pedal shoes I’ve used for mountain biking. They are better than the non-pros due to the wir stiffer sole. Such grat, stiff, and sticky shoes!
Good biking shoes
Stylish shoes. Great to walk on after a ride. Put a cork sole inside for more support and sole rigidity.
comfortable even for walking!
wanted a sturdier shoe and i'm not even a mountain biker. i do ride my bike during the summer/spring/fall, but just casually around my neighbourhood so i've yet to test on a bike. these shoes feel very durable and i've worn it out casually walking to/from work when commuting. that said, walking has been pretty comfortable in them and i haven't had any other issues with them as of yet. insoles are removable if you want/need to change them. i love the colour as well!
