Best waist pack I’ve tried
This is the third run belt I have purchased. What made me think this one would be different I’m not sure. Perhaps because I love my Nathan hydration vest I guess. The other belts giggle or ride up when I run (mostly trail). I have used this one 3 times now. One race and two long runs. It is unreal. The synch design is brilliant as it accommodates to you and the gear. The water bottle totally worked. I was skeptical about sloshing around but If you synch it down it worked great. I also used the belt without the bottle for phone, keys, credit card and as a place to clip my race number. It was so comfortable I forgot I had it on. Brilliant.
Thought this was the winner
After going through many running belts I thought I had landed on the one. Secure fit, and lots of comfort. Unfortunately the water battle is extremely hard to get back into the belt while on the move and the stitching on the pull tabs ripped apart after 3 uses. Pretty disappointing. Looks like I'll be heading to REI for a return.
Works for me but needs a couple of tweaks
I was looking for a waist pack that would carry water and have the phone in front. This does that. I am a runner and I can cinch it down so I don't have an issue with the water bouncing. My only complaint is the elastic in the back is all stretched out and does not hold any shape. When I cinch it down, there are gaps because the elastic is not doing its job. I don't know if it is defective or if this is the design. Elastic in front is fine. Also, be sure you order it to go over your bum as it is not elastic. The water bottle takes some skill to get it back in... but I think that has to do with the stretched out elastic.
Not a "Hydration" waist pack, but fine
This belt performs fairly well for holding some gels and a phone. You will have to re-tighten it on the run once in a while. The worst part, though: the soft flask is *completely unusable*, since it will bounce all over the place no matter how tightly you cinch or adjust, until it's down to maybe one-third full. So, unfortunately, this product doesn't really present any advantage over a pair of shorts with ample pockets, one of which can fit a phone. Last I checked, a pair of patagonia 9 trails shorts is only $9 more expensive than this thing and offers all of that.
Mixed feelings on this pack.
This is my second VaporKrar waist pack. I started with version 1 and got version 2 as a warranty replacement. I was super excited about version 1 at first and would (and did) totally recommend it. Not so much after quality issues and revisions to the new version, though. PROS -Much more comfortable to wear--and to carry water--than a traditional holster-style waist pack...if you wear it correctly. -Lightweight and comfortable--no rigid materials digging into your skin. -Sufficient number of pockets (including one zippered pocket) for water, keys, gels, gloves, etc. -Includes a soft water bottle, which makes it OK at full price ($60) and a great deal on sale, though the bottle isn't perfect. -Minimal bounce *if* you turn it around so the water bottle's in front. CONS -Quality wasn't up to par for version 1...too early to tell for version 2. (The velcro keeping the pockets closed began to come loose within months. To Nathan's credit, though it took over 3 months, I eventually got a replacement). -Version 2 has a much bigger pocket to accommodate the bigger bottle (20 oz versus 16 I think). Larger pocket is handy for carrying the larger bottle. But...the larger pocket is really big and feels/fits loose and kinda sloppy both with and without a bottle. It's hard to get the bottle back in without having it catch in the excess fabric of the pocket. -The water bottle has some issues. First, it needs to have it stop screwed *just right* or else it will leak and if there's any pressure put on the bottle's mouthpiece it will leak there as well. -It does bounce a bit if worn with a full bottle in the back. I've found that if I turn the pack around so the bottle sits up front it won't bounce (at least not for me). But the larger pocket in 2.0 makes this a bit cumbersome as it's harder to get the bottle out due to the extra fabric. SUGGESTIONS -Beef up the stitching holding the velcro to ensure it won't come loose. -Bring back the original pocket size and bottle size. The new size is just too big and sloppt. -Bonus: add a small strap and key clip inside the zippered pocket.
It's pretty good
The comfort of the pack is awesome. The storage is pretty good. Trying to get the bottle back into the belt on the run.......I'm glad i have a good sense of humor. The soft flask needs at least a little bit of support but that could be easily fixed. Overall, I like it.
100 mile capable
Switched to this and the insulated handhelds from vests while training for 100 milers this year. Works great on training runs to hold my phone, some nutrition and even some snacks for the dog. I typically drink the bottle in the waste pack before the handhelds to reduce any bouncing that might happen on down hills with a full 18-20oz bottle. No bounce when I use a 12oz bottle on shorter runs. Just used the set up to complete a 100 mile ultra. Had the waistband sitting on my under short liners and had zero chaffing. Honestly I hardly noticed it was there and it held everything I needed. Appreciate being able to cinch it down cause I don't have curves to typically keep waist packs in place
Great waist pack
I bought the L/XL waist pack being just above the size guidelines for the large. Fit is good though I since down the straps just about all the way. Bottle is good, no problem with leaks. It isn’t the easiest thing to put the bottle back in the waist pack - I stop and walk when I take a drink so it’s no problem but I could see it being tricky to do on the run. Fair sized side pockets fit a couple of gels or chews. Front pocket fits my iPhone 7, but it’s tight. Easy enough to rinse off after a run and hang dry. I’m finding this very useful for my self supported marathon training runs.
Water bottle can use BeFree filter lids
Just got this, and tried replacing the lid with one from a 0.6L BeFree bottle - and it fits! No leaking during squeezing. Also the 0.6L BeFree bottle fits in the pocket. Took it for a walk, refilled water at break - nice. My S20 in a Moment case doesnt fit well.
I don't think you're ready for this jelly
I bought this at the same time as a VaporKrar Vest because it gets crazy hot where I live, I hate carrying a bottle, but the vest seems like overkill for most runs under 10mi. I honestly didn't think I'd like the belt very much--I've had some fanny pack style belts before and always felt that they threw off my gait--but guess what, people? I WAS WRONG! This belt is GREAT! It's comfortable, functional, and makes my butt look good. The secret to its success is the Soft Flask--it shrinks as you drink eliminating the slosh that caused previous packs to throw off my rhythm. Add the compression straps (which are sooooooo easy to adjust mid-run) and you've got a form-fitting, bounce-free belt. Anyway, just buy it.
