Great bike, could use adjustable training wheels
Really nice bike, but could use adjustable training wheels. The ones on there only sit at one height. They are sturdy, but it would be great to have adjustability. The rest of the bike is great. As a cyclist is has much of what you’d see in a current road bike. The seat is adjustable from to back, where most just go up or down. The handlebars are attached with a stem, the brakes work well…..all around really nice.
Great bike at a great price (discounted)
I bought this for my 7.5 yo daughter who has outgrown her character bike. At a third off, this is a smoking good deal. I especially like the combo of coaster and grip brakes so she can easily transition to the next level. Full disclosure, we are not a hard core riding family so if you’re looking for a recommendation from someone who has trained for the Tour de France you’ll need to read further. If you’re like us, you’ll like this bike. Just wait for the sale.
REV 20 ROCKS!!
Got this Rev 20 for my 3year old that somehow bypassed all bikes after he wore his Rev12.. I don't understand why so many people are having issues. Bike is a little big for him but bike is pretty light and he pedals the living daylights out of it. Stepping him into a Rev 20 w gears next. Yes he is 3 years old. Quality is awesome on this bike w great materials.. love that has Noth brakes pedal and levers. He loves having n g that control.. Training wheels that fall off I would thing is the best way to get them moving passed the training wheels stage. Just my thoughts.. and my 3 year old thoughts:-) enjoy
REI CO-OP BIKES are great quality & a great value.
My 7 year old loves this Co-Op bike. He's not quite ready to lose the training wheels yet but was getting too big for his 16” bike.
Poor Quality and Does not Function
We got this bike for our daugher for Christmas 2022. It has been so disapointing and nothing like normal REI products. The training wheels fall off repeatedly while she rides it. One of the screws was stripped after only a few weeks of her riding it and we took it to our local REI bike shop to have it fixed, but the problem keeps recurring. The chain also falls off and needs put back on. The bike is really heavy and hard for her to manuever. I would not reccommend this product.
Great “big kid bike”
This bike is an absolute dream! I got it for my son - he’s five years old. It’s just exactly the right size based on measurements I saw and hoped would work. The staff who assembled the bike did an excellent and thorough job, and were so helpful and friendly at pickup. My son loves it! Bonus points it weathered his first crash quite nicely. The color is spectacular. Highly recommend.
Great Co-op ReV 20 Kids Bike
My grandson loves the style and color of this bike. I love the fact that it has dual brakes! He is 6, but a big six, and just learned the standard back pedal brake. This having both the pedal break and a rear wheel brake is a great transition bike. He will also have some room to grow with it. Thanks REI!
Great Transition Kids' Bike
I read a lot of reviews and ended up at the Rev 20 for my daughter (7yrs), who had outgrown an older, heavier entry level bike. The Rev20 is sturdily built and the training wheels don't come loose. She likes the flexibility of the hand brake or the pedal brakes. Also, despite being nearly twice the size of her old bike the Rev 20 weighs-in a bit lighter, so it's much easier for her to pedal. Her favorite thing was the sticker kit- we definitely won't be confusing her Rev20 with another!
Great first bike
Great kids bike. I worked at a bicycle shop a lifetime ago, and I'm picky about bikes. Yes, it's a little more expensive than something from a big box store, but it's absolutely superior. My 7yo daughter loves it and can't get enough of it. I just hope she doesn't outgrow it too quickly.
Perfect kids bike
This is a great “first big kid’s bike.” The geometry and quality are just right for what it is. 100% recommendation the bike. But, like others have said, the black training wheels that come with it are no good. The “new” connection doesn’t work. There isn’t enough clearance between the brake arm/rear sprocket and the frame for the locking bolts to fit. Even with pliers, the bolts were just too thick to fit. They also are not adjustable and pretty narrow. My daughter isn’t ready for ‘full wabble’ ability yet. We purchased the Wald 742 separately and use those. Much better setup. Also, the tires are road/gravel. But you could easily swap them to something knobbier if your little one wants to try some more aggressive riding.
