The Speedgoat 3.0 is a Beast
I recently crushed a 50K race while using the Speedgoat 3.0 waist belt from UltrAspire. This belt was able to carry all my essential items for the race. In the front pocket I had my iPhone 12 Pro and my UltrAspire collapsible cup, 2 Spring Energy Gels on each side of the belt and a bag full of snacks and gels in the back middle pocket. This pocket stretches and is bigger than it looks. The 550 Hybrid bottles are perfectly situated and were big enough to keep me hydrated throughout my race as they were easily refilled at aid station. This belt is a beast!
Great for trail and ultra running.
I absolutely love this waist belt. Often times during an ultra I have lower back pain. A running vest seems to add to that and I find myself leaning forward during the later stages of race. This belt actually helps me keep better running form and gives me a little support in my lower back. Also I'm really surprised of how much stuff I can actually pack into it. It's a fantastic product! I tried several waist belts and I found this one to be superior in many ways. Also Ultraspire is a great company ran by great people. I have many of their products and I have never been disappointed. Their customer service (in my opinion) is the best in the business. 5 STARS!!!!#
MOST impressed - zero chaffing
I absolutely love it. I prefer to carry on my hips vs my chest. Stretchy fabric carried more nutrition than I expected. Solid ride. I was MOST impressed that I had zero chaffing after 16 plus hours of wear during Canyons 100K. The belt slipped/loosened ever so slightly when both bottles were full which was not an issue or hinderance during my race. I did contact the manufacturer and they gave me, at no cost, one extra clip for each side of the belt. Since adding the clips I have experienced zero belt loosening. I much prefer this product over any of the 3 vests that I own.
Ripped after single use
I was pleased when I received the belt. It fit me (I’m usually a women’s small) on the tightest “setting,” but that being said, I’m not skinny and an XS woman probably couldn’t use this. It didn’t bounce when I ran, and I was able to get the bottles out with 2 hands. All good. I was relieved to have a solution for long summer runs away from water stops. I washed it by hand after the run because it smelled bad, and frankly not the way I usually smell, so I was wondering if it were the material. I hand washed it in the sink with a gentle detergent. This morning, I woke up to see if it was dry and noticed that the inside part near the bottom of one of the bottles is ripped. I wouldn’t care from an appearance perspective because the rip in the plastic(?) webbing is on the inside, but it feels rough to the touch. I can’t imagine putting this next to my body for a 10-15 mile run and not having severe chafing. I’m so disappointed. I wanted to love this belt. Maybe I got a dud? Maybe it was ripped before I used it and I just didn’t notice? That’s not great news either.
great belt, with limitations
Snagged this for cheap on REI Outlet website during a sale. Wasn't expecting much but I use it as much as my 12L vest and here's why: the Katadyn BeFree filter threads near perfectly on the the bottles, which means if my route has water, I can extend this for many miles. I can easily carry ~500 calories in the small pocket, my phone, sunglasses, and even my Patagonia Houdini (there's a loop you can attach it to and its easy to secure). Combine that with running shorts with solid pockets, you can add even more utility. This thing would struggle if you had to carry gloves, hats, or layers, but otherwise, its great.
Very not good
I purchased two of these, one for my wife and one for me. We both have the exact same complaint. The belt will not stay tight; it just keeps loosening. We have owned them for over a year and they have been this way ever since we got them. Every 100 yards, you will be pulling the straps to tighten. Do not purchase this item.
for all my long runs
I didn't want a vest, and this is a great solution. I bring it on all my long runs (up to half marathon currently). It's comfortable, holds keys securely, not too heavy. My only criticism is that some people may not be able to tighten it enough, as I had to tighten the straps ALL the way (I wear a W size 8), and it sits just a little bit off center for me. For hot days, I freeze the bottles ~2/3 and fill the remainder with water, so I have cold water for a while. Don't freeze when too full or the bottles will bulge.
Doesn't slip and feels comfortable
I was uncertain after reading reviews of this product on REI and Amazon. However, I feel that it works great. It sits securely and comfortably. The belts do not slip, and I don't even feel it needs re-tightening after the bottles are emptied. My prior hydration pack was a hip CamelBak with bladder and it needed constant tightening, adjustment, and would bounce on my back when the 1L bladder was full. Not this pack. I'm delighted so far.
Not for petite women
I pulled the straps as far as they'll go, but the belt still bounces and rotates around my waist quite a lot while running at an easy pace. Plus, there's not a great way to stash the long tails of the straps. Disappointed and returning.
Like 2nd Skin
An awesome waist pack you don’t even know it’s on and I also loved the bottles.
