Runs Large!

I'm not sure how no one has mentioned how large these run. I bought the Ahnu a few years ago in a size 7.5. My foot is a 7, but wear 1/2 size bigger to allow for foot swelling on the trails. I decided to buy a 7.5 in the Ridgeview since Ahnu's are no longer available and made the mistake of assuming the sizing would be the same. Wrong! My foot is swimming in these. End to end both shoes are approx. 11 inches in length, HOWEVER the Ahnu has extra length in the sole at the heel. If you look at where your heel actually starts in the boot vs. the sole, you'll see how much longer the Ridgeview is. I took pics and put a measuring tape in a straight line across so it's easier to see the difference in length. I would suggest sizing 1/2 to a full size down. I ordered the 6.5s and 7s so fingers crossed one of them fit. I'll update here once I receive. Aside from the sizing discrepancy (reason for 3 stars), the ankle height around the boot is slightly shorter than the Ahnu, but softer, and the shoelaces are shorter and fatter, but it's better not having so much lace and they stay in place better. At the top of the laces, instead of 2 hooks like the Ahnu, they have 2 orange tabs the laces go into. I didn't think I would like not having hooks, but I actually like these tabs as they seem to grab onto the laces and hold them in place better which is appreciated when trying to tie boots tight. They feel lightweight and much less clunkier than other hiking boots I've tried on. They don't feel as cushiony as the Ahnu and are wider in the toe box and across the arch and heel.

Comfortable but poor quality

I was initially happy with these boots, they are lightweight and comfortable. However now I've had them for just over a year and am super disappointed with the quality. The soles are already peeling away at the toes and I've only used these for day hiking. At this price, I would expect these boots to be much more durable. Not worth the money.

Such a disappointment!

Needed to buy a new pair of hiking boots and finally decided on these Teva's now that you cannot find Ahnu boots anywhere. I took them out on a three day trip and they started to rip up on the toes after the first day. By the end of day three they they had ripped up almost all the way across. We were trail hiking with some roots and rocks but nothing that should have caused this so quickly. Only giving two stars because they are lightweight and comfortable.

Comfy and practical

My 7 year old Vasques gave out and I needed a new pair of boots. I bought these last night and took them on a 5 mile hike today. They felt fantastic right out of the box, and were very comfortable the whole hike. No break in time needed! I prefer good ankle support in my boots and I felt pretty supported by these, while still have the flexibility I needed for some scrambling. So far loving these and would recommend them, but I’ll review again in a few months after some more use. I got my regular size 9 and they fit perfectly with my preferred lightweight socks, but those who like to wear a thicker sock might want to consider sizing up.

Not over the ankle

I am so disappointed I had to return these. I have been wearing Ahnu, then Teva Montana boots for 5 years to hike mountains. I ordered these because it said “over the ankle” boots. I had also ordered the grand view hiking shoes “under the ankle” & both versions sit under the ankle at the same height! So I can’t wear these hiking. The wording is misleading as they are the same height.

Not for Everyone

I bought these about two years ago and have hiked miles and miles in them. I've worn them on day hikes and backpacking trips. Yesterday, I did a 9.5 mile hike and today my feet are killing me, which unfortunately, has been a common outcome of distance hikes for me in these. I would say these can be great shoes but definitely not go-to boots for all your hiking needs That said, they are waterproof, I've forded streams and stepped directly into puddles that were deeper than I thought they'd be, my feet always come up dry. They're also quite durable, the color has faded but the seams and soles are in good nick; the boot remains intact. I've tried different levels of sock thickness, lacing configurations and even pretaping my hotspots but consistently around mile 3-4 is when my feet start to throb. If you buy these, use them on easy, short trails and carry a light pack.

Great look and feel!

The 5 stars is based on minimal use. I have yet to try them on a hike. The inner bootie gives me hope they are true to the waterproof claim. I did have to add an Oboz insole for added arch support. Otherwise, I love the look and feel of the boots. I was nervous to purchase without any reviews available but after seeing them and trying them on am willing to take the risk.

Inaccurate coloring

Shoe color is inaccurate. “Desert taupe” is more green than brown. Do not buy if you have to follow a dress code

I was looking for a super light hiking shoe and this one fit the bill perfectly. Very light without compromising comfort.

Meh

I wanted to love these. Fit is fine, comfort is fine, weight is fine. I got them as summer wight shoes, but I didn't like that they aren't water proof at all. I wore them about six times and the sole came off about two days after the warrantee expired. I've never had that happen! It was a bummer because I was on a trip.
