Smooth ride, nice look.

Overall this is a decent bike but it doesn’t quite meet my expectations for a bike all in that costs $800. This bike lags a bit and it takes a long time for it to shift. The shifters themselves are both thumb shifters for up and down which is a bit awkward if you’re not used to that. There’s quite the reach to hit the bottom shift lever so if you have small hands this might not be a good fit. The bike itself looks really nice. I’m still on the fence to whether I’ll keep this bike because the shifting is so strange, but everything else about it is really nice. Overall it’s a good bike for beginners.

Great bike!

I feel sorry for anybody who got a lemon, but my bike is beautiful and a joy to ride! Yes, some things take getting used to (I haven't ridden in 40 years, but have spent the last year on a stationary bike - not 24/7, ha!), like the shifters, which act more like push buttons than the physically connected levers I am used to. There is a slight pause before the shift occurs, but so what, it shifts smoothly. The disk brakes work well, I just wish the left hand controlled the back brake, but that is personal preference, not a defect. The ride is smooth and quiet, the gearing smooth, the brakes quieter than the old caliper, rim brakes, and stop me quickly. Overall, I really like this bike, and it was the perfect choice for somebody getting back into cycling!

defective derailleur

This would be a nice bike if gears would shift properly. Chain dropped when shifting front gears upon purchase and after adjustment. Genius bike mechanic was able to adjust it so that it held for a week, then chain dropped again. Apparently Cannondale couldn't get the regular parts during covid, so they just used whatever they could find, and it's not good enough.

Junk

The entire frame creeks when peddling under tension, like an old rocking chair, but the up side is people hear you coming. The breaks rub and REI employees are unable to adjust it. If you adjust the breaks not to rub, then clamping down all the way does little to slow the bike. But if you want the breaks to work, then you need to allow it to rub the entire time, which is fine if you only want a workout, but not so fine if you're trying to keep up with friends.

Very disappointed

I don’t usually write reviews but I thought this product deserved it. It’s advertised as having Shimano components and a Shimano drivetrain but the bike I received doesn’t have any of that. It has no name components and a micro shift drivetrain that’s absolutely horrible. I’m actually shocked Cannondale would put such a budget drivetrain on any of there bikes. I gave it 2 stars because the frame is nice and well built and the brakes seem to be more than adequate.

Defectivce Derailleur

As other reviewers said, the derailleur is a problem. First, they are not Shimano as specified. REI had not adjusted mine. It didn't even shift properly. I adjusted it myself. It was OK for a while (3 rides). But started to act up again. I really was hoping to keep it, but decided to return, despite its really cool look.

The bike is ok

REI sold me a used bike that was all damaged. I brought it back once and the next day the same thing happened. The sensor won't work. I decided after 2 trips to take it to a real bike store. Very disappointing

Very happy with this bike

Agree with the other 5-star reviews. Disappointed for those who got a bad one, but all indications are that I got a good one. And I’m loving it! Rides smooth. Lightweight. Easy to use from the first ride. Can’t say enough positives. For the price, this is a winner.
