Comfortable, but maybe too soft
Got these in Sep 2021 for winter use at the office with occasional outdoor assignments. So about 1.5 yrs old. My feet stayed warm and dry, with good traction. Working from home often and wearing other shoes means these haven’t been worn more than maybe once a week or less (summer). I’m surprised at the inner lining failure. Welcome duct tape, sad.
Huge Design Flaw - Heel Cup Issues
I can't recommend these shoes. They're cantered significantly towards pronation and have very well-documented issues with the heel cup material. The soles wear about like any other hiking shoe, though not nearly as well as any Vibram. There is no centering tongue slotting, which is a constant, and also well-documented problem with these shoes. But the main problem is the heel cup, and my guess is that every single positive review on here will also acknowledge that the fabric on the heel cup is an issue that Oboz refuses to address. Here's what will happen to your shoes. You'll notice a small tear in the heel cup fabric within a month or so of use. The shoes will still be comfortable for months beyond this point, but eventually the cheap plastic in the heel cup will break up and the shards will dig into your heels. At this point, if you're down for the duct tape fix, I guess these shoes will last a bit longer, but mine were unbearable. Since the warrantee is only a year, be prepared for one year only, because they're not going to last beyond that point, guaranteed. I don't get why REI continues to carry this product. A known design flaw that should be a deal-breaker to anyone thinking of purchasing.
Incredibly comfortable but wear quickly
This is among the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I am considering buying 5 pairs to just keep for future use. Why? They wear quickly. The first pair was replaced after 2 months as a seam came apart by the laces. The second pair was replaced after 3 months due to complete wear of the fabric at the heel. I do hope Oboz fixes the fabric quality but maintains the fit and comfort for future versions.
Perfect All Around
I’m 6’1” tall and over 200 lbs. This shoe is the perfect balance of toughness and stability I need for everything from cleaning the garage to doing several miles on moderate terrain. They’re great in the rain, ice, mud, and even clean sidewalks. I wear them for everything. They break in quickly, and they keep their structural integrity. I’m on my third pair.
Did not last.
After 10 months the rear heal support is no longer supporting. Material has crushed down and no longer supports. Visible from the outside of the shoe.
Great on the outside, not so on the inside…
First time purchase of this brand, liked the look, loved the immediate comfort of the sole and width, no break in time needed. Unfortunately, after 6 months use, the inside of the heel failed; fabric began to tear, stiff material fragmented and is now poking heel causing discomfort. Shoes were used for just day to day wear, never even took them on a trail, nor did I wear with any thick or abrasive socks. As much as I liked these when first purchased, I would not buy again. Especially disappointing at $120.
Great all around outdoor shoe
I’ve put about 100miles on these . Really great all around shoe . Good for light trail use , around town, biking , scrambling . I even use them for working out . Very grippy compound on bottom. Very low rise which is what I was looking for . Only complaint is sole compound gets very stiff in very cold weather. Overall fantastic
Almost a solid shoe
I purchased the Oboz Bozemans back in August of 2021, and they have been in regular rotation ever since. Iv'e worn them on light hikes and while working in the yard, but their primary use has been as one of my daily go to shoes. The entire outside and sole of the shoe has proven to be very durable and is wearing quite well. My only grip is the inside of the heels. Within a few weeks, the fabric on the heels began to tear and, shorty after, whatever padding that was underneath wore away as well. That said, I still wear the shoe a few days a week for casual use, but won't/cant' wear it for anything to strenuous as my heels begin to rub and it becomes uncomfortable. I really wanted to love these shoes, but will have to settle on just liking them instead.
Great shoes - and awesome sales person!
I stopped into REI San Carlos looking for sneakers. I was helped by Ilir, who asked what they were for and I told him a trip to Morocco. He came back with the Oboz Bozemans, said "try these, you'll like them" and I did! I asked why he was so confident I'd like them and he told me he'd worn them on >his< recent trip to Morocco! They were perfect: very comfortable, good support for cobblestones/the Sahara (I have peroneal tendonitis -good support is essential) and easy to dress up with slacks. They were the only shoes I brought or needed on a two week trip. Now home, they're my go-to shoes. Thanks Ilir - I would never have found the Bozemans on my own!
Very comfortable but heel breaks down
These were disappointing because they are very comfortable and are well made with one problem. The heel fabric inside started to break down quickly and the plastic around the heel broke into pieces. Because of Covid the company wasn't accepting any returns so I just decided to wear them until they fell apart and then just not buy that brand anymore. I never had this issue with Merrells or Tevas so I'll just go back to one of those.
