Bought both the 50 and 90 lumen versions and from what I can tell there is Zero difference between the two. Both are super bright. Just but the 50, great light. The 90 is a scam.
USB port cover doesn't seal well.
I own three of these. USB port cover doesn't seal well. Water occasionally gets in during rain rides and then it stops working. I take it apart, let it dry and it works again. Mine are part of a cohesive lighting system for night riding including seat cluster flasher, helmet light, bar light, etc. These are not my only lights, nor would they ever be. They are, however, inexpensive enough and useful enough to be included in my setup for night rides.
Great taillight!
The light is very bright. It is great for day and night applications. It is easy to charge and use. It is aero and sleek. I like it.
Not for use outdoors unless it’s dry
Quit working after a few rides in light rain. Water found its way to the inside. :(
Bought it Again, After the First One Wore Out
This is a simple, but effective light. I bought this light to replace a similar light by the same company that was five or six years old and no longer lasting for long rides. I also thought the old light would not work with a new aero seat post. The clerk at REI suggested that I double check because the synthetic band generally will stretch enough to accommodate an aero post. He was right. I generally use the light as a daytime running light and have alway been happy with it. I have used it at night a handful of times and it has been fine. It gets used one to three times a week.
Good Visibility for trike
Nice and bright put on trike flag for visibility bright but not irritating to following vehicles
NIce little light with pretty decent battery life.
Pretty decent light, got it because my aventon fat ebike has a light on the frame and this one matches it well. its bright enough where drivers can see and has a few flash modes and battery life is good depending on what settings you have it on. the only real issue is with the usb charging port cover as other reviewers have stated. overall not a bad light, have been using mines for almost a year now with no major issues.
Be visible people!
Such a bright light. Attaches to the seat post or seat stay effortlessly because the rubber strap has so many holes. Attaches to a backpack with little effort. You can leave on in flash mode and get five hours of commute time before you need to consider recharging. Recharging takes very little time as well. I just love how bright it is. Don't just get a front light... people need to see you when they approach from behind in vehicles.
I own a few of these, so I must like them
I have a Hotrod 50 lumen rear, 90 lumen rear and 110 lumen front. All 3 have the same case, switch and attachments. They aren't prefect but they do many things right, which might be just what you need. They have multiple settings, are rechargeable, have decent but not amazing battery life, but the real reason I like these is they are narrow. I don't have room on my seat post on one of my bikes for a light. This one is so small it will fit on very narrow seat stays. Serfas Thunderbolt was another that comes close to this but not nearly as narrow to solidly stay put. And I realized it will fit on a head tube w/ a separate XL strap (not included). So if you have aero bars w/ no straight cross section of bars to mount a light or hang one off your heat unit's mount, this too might be a novel solution for your ride. It does work fine on a seat post too. I like my Knog Cobber for that as it has wider angle visibility. I also like my Serfas, Lezyne and NiteRider lights. This isn't a smart light; it won't tell you it's running low or drop to a lower power setting. IT won't flash faster as it senses traffic behind you. It won't record your ride with a rear view camera. It's just an inexpensive light. Also the rubber USB cover may work its way out and a small Phillips screwdriver will assist you in reinserting it.
Failed After 3 Hours
I only got in 3 rides with this before it ceased functioning. It won't turn on or charge. I'll have to send it back and shop for something else.
