I was looking to replace a light rain-jacket/windbreaker that I'd recently lost. This did the job perfectly. It's light and easy to pack for hiking and travel.
This jacket is great. I had a similar Mountain Hardwear jacket that was also a size Large and that jacket fit a bit smaller making this version fit slightly larger than previous models, but it works very well when considering the function of the jacket—rain protection. The zipper is better than previous versions, and the hood is a smarter shaped hood. The armpit vents are clutch too.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I generally wear a medium when it comes to jackets and rarely have any problems with the fit. Unfortunately, this was not one of those cases. The Acadia jacket is light, comfortable, and constructed well. For me, it fit well everywhere except the sleeves and shoulders. The shoulders were exceptionally tight and the sleeves came down past my knuckles. Sadly, it had to be sent back.
Wore the jacket in the rain. When I took off my backpack. I noticed that the water repellent was less than abrasion resistant. The the rain coat prevents water from getting on to my clothing. Water adheres to the surface of the rain coat with pack's contact area. Overall good 2.5L rain coat. I want to find an abrasion resistant water repellent. Reviewing Acadia XL rain coat.
I live on the Oregon Coast. I wanted a quiet rain jacket for hiking in the hills without getting me soaked both inside and out. I like this jacket and will keep it. It has pit zips which help with sweat evaporation and moderating body temp. It is a bit noisy tho. I do wish it had another pocket for my phone. But this is an acceptable jacket which I have worn quite a bit already.
I haven't tested in rain yet, but looks great and is super light. I got M and it runs a bit larger than my other MH rain coats. I wish the others where this big though for better layering. I am not sure if this will withstand heavy rains, but should be good for city and day trips with sudden weather changes.
Great light rain jacket with the amount of times that has rained in California this year (not much), but mostly wore this to protect against the wind. It runs a little big, if you want a perfect fit, you'd probably wanna get it one size down. I didn't mind it as I can layer up.
The item has different graphics and was not as shown. The jacket is as designed but if you don’t mind more graphics on the chest and not the simple bolt icon go ahead an purchase. I typically wear a medium and the fit is more of a trim medium but the size purchased is a small.
Works well for a light drizzle, but as this was advertised to be "waterproof", I took it out on a fishing charter and it was raining pretty steadily and I was soaked to the core within minutes. Should be clearly advertised as water resistant, not waterproof.
Great shell that I’ve used in the pouring Vancouver rain. Not heavy and packs up small. I do miss the chest pocket that was on the older model. I warrantied my old shell. Warranty process was fantastic, easy, fast. Will stick with Mountain Hardware.
