If you care at all about safety, DO NOT buy this
Our son is 2 years old and in the 70th percentile for height, yet even with the seat on the lowest setting, his feet only just reach the ground. He struggles to sit fully down on the seat while peddling with his feet. He has to move his body forward off the seat to peddle more easily. I want to echo other fellow unhappy parents here, the 360° swivel handle bar and the slight curve are so frustrating. The bike needs an entirely new design. Those aren’t even our biggest complaints. Our biggest complaint is the bolts that stick out on the sides of the bike (see photo). Talk about dangerous and painful!!! It’s gotten to the point where my very fearless son (who can literally fall several feet, scrape his head and knees open and still say, “Ow! Okay, I go play again…”) doesn’t trust this balance bike and hates staying on it longer than a few seconds. I am sure it’s because he is done getting those huge bolts jammed into his body. The designer on this is either childless and/or careless, and I struggle to understand all these rave reviews.
My nephew is crazy about it
Really great little bike. Bought it for my nephew and we can't get him off of it.
Great Boke
Great starter bike for my grandchild. Very stable and easy to assemble.
perfect introduction to cycling
Purchased this for our very active 2 yr. old grandson. Assembly is very simple. Within a couple days he was flying around the park trails. After a week of so he is picking up he feet and gliding down hills. Highly recommended for getting young ones started in cycling.
Bad design
If they spent 10 years designing this for functionality, as their ad says, then they should change occupations. My two year old can’t ride this for more than five seconds without saying ‘Ow’ as the bottom of the seat post jams into his achilles tendon. I am in fact using the shorter seat post, and he is within the proper riding height parameter. Also, the handlebars have a slight curve to them, which is ergonomic and would be just fine, other than they rotate 360 degrees, so 50% of the time, your kid is gonna get it wrong and the bike will be harder to steer without them falling over. Also, the curve is gentle enough to make a difference but also gentle enough to make it hard to tell by looking at it if it’s proper or not. Other bikes have solved both these design issues and cost half the price. There are other brand balance bikes that the seat post does not protrude through the bottom of the frame and instead have a smooth ball that won’t injure your kid’s ankle, and some of those same models also have steering stops that won’t let the handlebars flip the wrong way… for less than $60. These other brand’s models are also easier to step through the bike frame as they get on the bike. If you want a balance bike that looks really super cool and stylish (and I’ll admit this one does,) that costs more than most other balance bikes (cause hey, if it costs more, it must be the best,) that your kids can jack up their ankles on while falling over, then this is the one for you.
Really pleased with this purchase
Such a sturdy, nice looking little bike. Mom and Grandma love it. My two-year-old granddaughter was being bashful at Christmas with so many people watching so didn't use it much yet. But when no one was looking, she got on it. I know she will love it.
Easy to put together adjustable balance bike
Purchased for my almost 2.5 yr old son. Doesn’t quite get it yet but it was easy to put together and is adjustable so that it can grow with him until he’s ready for a big kid bike. Seems sturdy and durable.
Very disappointed to pick up the box, not the bike
We bought this bike for our daughter at REI because the website says free assembly is included. We came to pick this bike up today with our daughter (she was so excited) only to learn that it is still in a box and that REI does not assemble this balance bike as it’s considered a toy not a bike. I get that the assembly is probably straight forward, but this misinformation cost us a long trip with a 2 year old and a lot of disappointment.
nice product
Bought for my grandson's birthday. He loves it. It went on sale for $30 less right after i bought it. i wish there was a price match policy.
Built to Last
My child is just moving on to a big kid bike at 4 and has loved and abused her strider. Besides a little wear on the seat you wouldn't be able to tell that it has gotten two years of hard use. She can fly down the sidewalk and is ready to learn how to pedal. I can't recommend it enough.
