Love these extremely lightweight very supportive shoes. I am a hiker, runner & all around very active person who is coming back from a bad ankle injury and was recommended to try this shoe. Couldn’t be happier, bought another Hoka for work. Had to get 1/2 size down than my usual for this Hoka, but normal size for my Hoka sneaker for work. Have recommended to so many friends. Even after what I consider a strenuous walk or hike, due to my injury, my feet are not achy at all, whether on paved roads or hikes in the woods with hills & rocks. I credit these shoes. I am 52 and 5’4” small frame. Live in RI.
If you have bad knees and are looking for extra cushion to keep pushin' these might do the trick. When they arrived I was very impressed. They weigh almost nothing, but they are much more stable and structured then you'd think. The material around the laces allow it to hold in place more easily than some footwear, which minimizes daily adjustments. I wear a womens 8 in Keens, a mens 8 in Oboz and a 8.5 in Asolo so, I was mentally prepared for a size exchange. I ordered a womens 8 in the Hokas. These were true to size and slipped on like Cinderella's glass slipper. I have a slightly wide foot so I was very pleased that I didn't need to re-order a mens size. When I took them out on the trail, I couldn't believe the difference. I have a bone on bone knee and these helped to significantly mitigate the pain. I was able to withstand jogging which made me so incredibly happy. These were 100% worth the money and I can't wait to get back outside with them on again!
I have been looking for and all black Hoka for a while. When I found these i couldn't pass them up. They are very comfortable! They even make my feet look smaller.
These were hard (not cushiony) - I have the runners and assumed they would feel similar. GTX so they didn't breathe well, which I wasn't surprised. Biggest issue aside from lack of cushion - they were NOT waterproof. My socks and toes were wet from the dewy grass when taking my dog out. Returned.
Solid, firm base & upper, excellent support. Gortex waterproof. Use the insert provided, light weight and adequate. I tried switching to my custom orthotic and not enough height - shoe pressed my navicular deformity. Plenty of support and comfortable without modifications. I can walk well in very uneven terrain. It is a needed addition to my lighter ATRX challenger weight running HOKA ONE ONE. Sizing same, I always wear a women’s 9.
I love the comfort of these shoes, but there's one challenging issue -- the design of the soles allows stones and gravel to frequently get stuck. I have a well-packed gravel driveway, and always have to pick out the stones when I walk in the house. I have the same problem on some trails. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone who will be using them on gravel.
Ordered same size as my regular HOKA runners. These were stiffer then the runners but it felt more supportive on the trail. No break in required. Took them out for a muddy hike after 2 inches of rain - great traction on mud and rocks and my feet stayed dry.
I think these shoes will be really useful once we get rainy weather. They are very lightweight and fit well. I wear a size 8 in New Balance shoes but found a 7.5 just right in this shoe. I plan to wear them for walking.
Theses shoes are very comfortable out of the box with good support and a roomy toe box. My feet are very sensitive due to lots of foot surgery and none of the seams irritate or rub. I typically wear a 9.5 and tend to have a more narrow foot but I can cinch these up to fit or loosen to accommodate thicker socks. I replaced the insole with an oboz medium arch insole for better support since I have very high arches.
After buying 3 pairs, I finally went with these mostly for trail running, but periodically I end up on a road or wear them on an errand. These are great - lightweight, comfortable, and they look good. I did need to wear cleats on the trail today because it was a little icy on the hills. Also, I do supinate pretty badly and these seem really supportive so far. Overall, good choice.
