Bought this off the Osprey site direct after seeing it in the REI inventory (black was not available, only lime green, and while green is my favorite color, I really couldn’t). After receiving my bag, I threw it in the washer and air dried it on the line before bringing it on my week long trip to Oceana. Because it held up perfectly, I had to write a review. It held up amazing to adventures at a berry farm, on a ferry, at a brewery, winery, at a 5-star-hotel pool, in a nice sit down restaurant, trekking across cities and country areas, stuffed at a farmer’s market, and at an apple orchard. No issues with cleaning the bag, just throw it in the wash and line dry or hand wash and air dry, ready for adventures a few hours later. This means it’s also great for toting laundry from point A to B, although that means unpacking it. To minimize the unpacking and repacking, I brought a zip pouch large enough for all my odds and ends and threw that inside this tote. Then, whenever I had to empty the tote, I simply took out the pouch and used it for washing or carrying groceries. So why not 5 stars? A few points. When the bag is empty or full, you need to unhook one strap and angle the bag, or set the bag down on a surface, so you can unzip the top because it’s so light weight. This is often a bit challenging if you’ve got things in your hands and need access to the main zippered compartment. However the plus is the mesh pocket that’s semi divided in the front-super handy for quick storing tissues, sanitizer or a room key. I may modify it to add a button or to sew a divide down the middle. The other minimal downside is if you set the bag down on a sea wall or bench, be very careful because it’s so thin, the fabric may snag and/or your contents won’t be very protected(cushioned). These are the flip side of having a super lightweight bag that really does a lot when traveling light. Every minimalist packer should consider this purchase!
