Durability issues

I want to love these shoes because Salomon is my favorite outdoor brand. I've run in the s-lab series in a variety of shoes with success. When Salomon launched the road line I was thrilled....until they came. Out of the box the sole was literally separating from the shoe at the heel before I even put them on my feet. (refer to pic) I glued it together with Gorilla Glue because I didn't want to return them and it held. After 130 miles the sole near the toe box started separating. (refer to other pic) So I glued that back down. The heel is wearing out quickly and significantly at 130 or so miles. I realize I'm a bit of a heel striker, but no other shoe has worn out this quickly in the heel - in any brand - especially road shoes. My s-lab Sonic 2's have almost 500 miles on them and aren't as worn in the heel. In short, the foam and rubber at the base of the shoe seem cheap. I'm surprised and disappointed. I realize the s-lab line is a bit higher end, but I wouldn't expect any Salomon product to have these issues. They feel great, respond well, are nice and zippy, etc. I do wish they has a better heel lock and sensifit system, but the fit and ride were nice. Serious durability concerns though. I suspect a lot of the reviewers on here haven't surpassed the 100 mile mark yet.

Completely dissatisfied

I purchased this running shoe a few months back and started using it for the last two or three months and mostly on the treadmill. The shoe is comfortable for running but the sides of both the pair started tearing apart - seems like very poor quality. I had faith in the quality of Saloman shoes as I have used them before but after this incident, I don't think I will buy them again.

Great looking shoe, not built for my foot type

Just over 100 miles on these now and they are holding up well. Light weight and good traction. I've never had shoes with an inner toe box like these and have had inner blisters from the first run. Cannot push through anymore so trying something else.

Great Shoe, Durability Issues?

find this to be a very comfortable shoe, but will probably need to re-think my choice of shoe. Despite using the shoe finder and putting in weight, age, distance per week, and pace I find the shoes wear out very quickly, my first pair were worn out after only 200K's and my second pair are nearly worn out after only 85K's. My suspicion is the rubber on the sole is a little soft and is just wearing away too quickly. I will still use this shoe but only for races as it's not durable enough for running 3 or 4 times a week unless something in the materials used is changed. For my training and leisure runs I will need to re-think my choice.

Distance light trainer

Just got these and did a 8 mile run. Normally I would only take them out on a shorter run. But these felt great as soon as I put them on. A little rubbing about mile 5. Same issue with my Sonic Pro, but they broke in just fine after a few runs. Light and smooth.

Fantastic Running Shoe

I have worn Salomon trail runners for nearly fifteen years, but I’ve recently begun road running. I spent too much money trying a few other popular brands’ road running shoes but with each pair I experienced different types of discomfort. Then I found some of my favorite colored Salomon road runners, read up on the right type of stability for my feet, and made the purchase. I’ve been extremely happy with the shoes. As a teacher I’ve stood for 8 hours on concrete floors with no fatigue and run 10 miles without blisters or hot spots of pressure. Second pair may be in the future?

Great daily trainer for me

I've had these for a few months and out about 250 miles on them. I run about 25 miles/week. I wanted a light weight daily trainer with sufficient cushioning and about an 8mm drop. These fit the bill perfectly. My only compliant has been the amount of outsole on the heel. It's very thin, and I ran through the outsole on the left heel at around 200 miles. That shouldn't happen for any quality shoe for any runner, especially since I only weigh 135 lbs. That said, I've been happy enough with them that I've already ordered another pair for once I wear these out.

Daily trainer / long distance racer

I will certainly wear this shoe for daily miles and racing longer races like Boston or New York this year. The heel was a little weird to get used to, but now I cant think of going back to bulky heel. I am really enjoying this shoe's fluid ride, cushioning, and performance. I always wore Salomon for the trail, and I am really enjoying this shoe for the road. I run 4 days on the road and need a good daily shoe. Happy I tried this one out. Good price and color options. Only gets a 4 because of durability. Noticed some wear early. Not bad, but worth noting.

Lightweight Comfort

Considering the weight of the shoe, I was surprised by the high level of cushioning throughout the foot bed and the ability of the sole to absorb the shock of the road. I appreciate that Salmon offers different heel drops, I use the RA as a trainer for mid-distance (10-20 mi) and recovery workouts. I have used it for interval training and the responsiveness matches the cushioning. The upper is made of a lightweight material that allows the food to breathe without feeling flimsy and the tongue wraps comfortably around the foot providing comfort without feeling bulky. Also, the laces are fantastic - semi spongy, don't cut off blood flow, and don't come loose during the workout. Good room in the toe box as well for a standard width or slightly larger foot.
