Great shirt for hiking
This is a great shirt, very comfortable. I have worn it hiking three days this week. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I prefer to wear bright colors for hiking safely in the woods, but this was the only color they had in the store and I needed an XL shirt. I would definitely buy another one in a brighter color.

I’m 5’5”, 150lbs, with a 36DD and let me tell you how hard it is to find shirts that aren’t cotton that fit me comfortably. I hold all of my weight in my chest, my belly pooch, and my hips, so it’s really tough to find hiking shirts that don’t make me look like a parachute. The cut has to be just perfect to flatter my body and this is the shirt! I ordered two in a size medium just in case I did like them and I wish I had ordered five. I love that the sleeves are longer than usual women’s shirts (one of my biggest complaints in women’s sizing) and the fit is a slim/relaxed look. Not too tight, not too big. I have broad shoulders and it fits perfectly. I can’t get over this shirt! It’s hot in the mornings in Arizona already and the pits of the shirt don’t smell sour after the sweating that has been happening. Also, the dog and cat hair slide right off. Who would have thought?? I purchased these for a backpacking trip coming up and wanted something I can easily wash in a sink and this is it. REI, please stock up on more of these in all of the colors. I need five more.
Great lightweight base!
I love the Capilene Cool collection! I have a long sleeve and just got the short sleeve here in the melon color, which is great and actually ends up matching a lot in my wardrobe. I love the material and the fact that it's not too clingy, but also not too billowy to make it trap summer heat. My only thing is the arms for me are slightly small, but that could also just be my body type as well. It isn't enough to bother me or want to exchange it, just noted it. For reference, I'm 5'3", 138 lbs (34x29x39) and ordered the small, as I have with other Patagonia tops. I probably could have ordered a medium, but I wanted a little closer fit for being out in the heat, and I'm comfy in the small.
Keeps the sun and smells at bay
I wore this shirt every day for a week-long backpacking trip in the high desert. I love how soft it is, and was impressed at how little it stunk at the end of the trip. It kept me from getting sunburned for the most part but my shoulders did get a bit of redness after hours and hours. I'd say go with your usual size - the attached size chart pegs me as XL but I'm usually L and in this case, Large was a perfect fit. It's a flattering shirt although I wish there were more color options in my local REI because the viking blue isn't my fave. Will probably buy another one of these in grey and/or melon.
lovely t-shirt, spot on
I consider myself an avid hiker and fitness enthusiast and maybe even a little bit of an expert when it comes to shirts that I like to wear hiking and exploring in the AZ deserts and CA hillsides. I have four of the Patagonia “cool daily” tees. They fit as per the size chart, no exceptions. They feel wonderful on, are moisture wicking - performing exceptionally for me through hot, taxing botanical excursions over the brutal AZ summers. I wear a pack and these shirts never snag, pill or tear where my pack makes contact! Kind of a big deal to me, as other high end brands I’ve worn have been reduced to shreds and trashed after one outing! These shirts wash well, dry fast and look really nice. No yucky smells and never damp or uncomfortable. I wear mine in the gym sometimes. I suppose my review is so positive because these shirts are really so nice. Like I said , I have four.
So lightweight & breathable
I spilled water on this shirt and it dried in probably under a minute. It's great for biking & keeps me cool- the material of the shirt is unlike any other athletic shirt I've purchased. I'm 5'2 & 120lbs and ordered the small & it fits right - it is slightly long on my torso but I like the fit to cover some of my bike shorts. It is pretty lightweight so you can just barely see where my sports bra & bike shorts hit me when I'm wearing the coral color but the blue shade is dark enough that you can't see through it. I'm going to get more colors it's that good.
Keeps you cool
This definitely keeps you cool BUT it hasn't wicked moisture well for me. Every time I've worn it and sweat in it, it actually then makes me really cold. I like the material and it hasn't snagged and does dry quickly but also shows sweat stains even after washing.
Perfect for hot days
I bought a couple of these shirts for an August trip to Universal Studios Florida since I knew it’d be a long day in humid heat. This shirt was great for it. It feels nice and light and helped me stay as cool as possible under the circumstances. It also didn’t develop any unpleasant smells and was easy to hand wash in the hotel. I’m usually a size 16/18 and bought an XXL. It fits well in the chest and shoulders and loose around the waist. This will be my favorite summer tshirt going forward.
The BEST sun shirt for hot weather
I wore this shirt on a HOT day, and fell in love with it! It is so lightweight and soft, and I think I felt cooler with this shirt than I would have in a looser top with more exposed skin. Even better - once I stepped into the shade, the shirt felt like it had a tiny personal AC unit. I don't know if it was the evaporative nature, the light weight, or what, but the shirt actually made my skin feel cool. I LOVE this shirt. Looks good too! The fit is definitely a bit loose, but super comfortable.
Patagonia has done it again!
Love, love, love this top! I got it in white and made it through an oppressively hot (high 80 degrees F with 60% humidity) day of sight-seeing in NYC thanks to the sweat-wicking material. Not a sweat stain in sight, even while traipsing around in direct sunlight or while melting on the subway. Bonus points for being relatively opaque: I wore a dark red sports bra underneath and couldn't even see the outline of it through the shirt. Worth every penny!
