Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Perfect for Trip to the UK
My family and I planned a trip to the U.K. to see family in February. We knew it would be cool and raining off and on. I was looking for a lightly insulated jacket that was waterproof and would work with layers. This jacket was PERFECT. It kept me warm with a long sleeve shirt and sweatshirt in the English and Scottish winter. It dealt with the periodic rain wonderfully. One day walking around London it rained on us fairly heavily for a three hours and the jacket kept me dry and warm. I could not ask any more out of this jacket. I’ll admit, it isn’t a dedicated rain jacket, the cuffs and hem were starting to get wet on the inside after three hours of steady rain, but none of the seams leaked. I highly recommend this jacket to anyone who is looking for something to keep you dry in cold and unpredictable weather.
It's no Talusphere Elements (REI 2016)
Just picked this up and haven't worn it yet... It's not nearly as heavy or durable feeling as my REI Talusphere Elements (insulated with Primaloft) from 2016, which I have LOVED and still use - my favorite winter coat ever! I was hoping the Heliovale would be more similar. However, I do like the style, fit and feel of this jacket. I'm 6' tall and I bought the large. Sleeves are slightly long, but the velcro strapped cuffs resolve. Fits well.
Good shopping at REI
I like it very much. Not very warm like a down parka, but very light and airtight when riding a motorcycle. Of course it is comfortable when taking a walk! I did a good shopping at REI.
Best fitting jacket
Great midweight jacket, fits really nice, not overly puffy making you feel like a snowman and its length is cut perfect. Favorite jacket ever.
Perfect for the PNW!!
REI really stepped up with this one! Best adjustable hood I've had on a jacket. True to size. Perfect for Washington and Oregon inland coast. When it's cold I've had a perfect temperature with a sweater and when it's spring I've found it perfect with just a t-shirt. I highly recommend this hacket!!
Great medium weight jacket
Medium weight, insulated, and water resistant. This is a great jacket.
Cool jacket but ehhhh
I love REI products and have been a customer since 1996. I bought this jacket in hopes of using it as my daily for the colder, wetter months here in So California. The fit was nice, not too baggy and not restrictive at all. The taped zipper stands out as an awesome feature and the jacket feels warm yet not so cozy you’ll have armpit stains once the office heats up. The one thing I liked this jacket for was the adjustable cuffs that could easily be cinched down for keeping rain and air out hiking walking to the grocery store or on the moto. The Velcro looks extra cheap as well as the tab looks like some thing you’d find from a cheap windbreaker from a discount store. Not sure if it would last all that long. For the price I figured I could pay a tad more and buy the Arcteryx Atom Sl hoodie just with out the wrist velcro. It’s cool, but maybe not so cool to keep. May return. I would recommend it if money is an object, if not then you know my answer.
Awesome
Very light weight good looking warm and dry. Highly recommended
Packs down into 2.5L stuff sack
I’m not gonna lie I got this jacket at a deep discount and this jacket is amazing. The insulation is kept me warm to 30° do I have encountered enough rain to determine if I will for my arc Terex Gore-Tex rain shell over this. For my price point perfect thing I needed to stay warm and dry up in the mountains in Colorado and why is no one mentioned that little pack down into a 2.5 L stuff sack?
Not a jacket
This is a lightweight windbreaker and not a jacket. It may be ok for the fall and spring but it is not a winter jacket. Very little insulation.
