Outstanding cycling shoe!
I was on my second pair of Sidi Genius road cycling shoes in 20 years. Sidi's are excellent shoes that fit my narrow feet very well. They are very durable and comfortable. But mine were well passed their prime. New Sidi Genius shoes have become too expensive than I am willing to pay, at about $250.00, although they can be had for less on some web sites. Without knowing much about the Shimano RP5 Boa, I ordered a pair because REI had them on sale in my size for about $80 shipped. I can honestly and enthusiastically recommend the RP5 Boa. The fit is very good, the soles are stiffer than my Sidi's were, but the comfort is top notch. I rode on a relatively hot and humid day and can report that the venting system works well, especially for my toes. I am highly selective when it comes to cycling gear, and I am usually willing to spend more $$$ for better kit. But some brands (Sidi, Assos, etc.) have become cost prohibitive for most of us, I suspect. I have used Shimano products since the early 80s and I trust Shimano to produce very functional products. I have not been disappointed, yet. I would conclude by stating that even at retail prices, the RP5 Boa is an excellent value for a very good shoe. But as a bottom feeder, I always look for good stuff at sale prices.
