Definitely increases suspension of disbelief!

Some background: recently purchased a Wahoo Kickr Core with my 20% member's coupon. Was getting a little frustrated as had connectivity issues with the unit until a friend sorted me out. Fast forward to today where I went to my local REI's garage sale and there was a Kckr Climb (which I wanted) at a great price. Thinking the person may have had connectivity issues like me but didn't have a friend to help pull him through, so they just returned it as not working. I took a chance on the unit. The box lacked instructions but many YouTube videos helped to get this setup within 15 minutes or less. That included pairing with my Kickr Core which went without a hitch. A few minutes later, I did a route on Watopia which was about 20 miles and 2,000+ feet of climbing. The Kickr Climb worked as advertised, including on the descents (I think ~ -4% max as advertised). What I really liked is that the Climb made me use the muscles I normally use when I do ride outside. The response was fairly snappy (though not instantaneous with the video, but no biggie) and the unit was quiet (except for 1 segment where the ascent ramped up really quickly). I have to check calibration to ensure I got the size right, but that's on me, not the unit or the firmware. I was on the fence getting the unit as I've read reviews that said it's really not needed. And I think they are right, it's not. But the Climb absolutely helps with the suspension of disbelief that you are indoors on a trainer. And now that I've tried it, I wouldn't want to Zwift without it! My Watopia route was just under 1.5 hours, that's twice as long as I've ever been on a trainer before. Too me, the Kickr Core/Kickr Climb/Zwift combination is a great combination that will definitely help me when I can't go outside and keep me in peak condition. Today was only first ride, I'll update if anything changes, but off to a great start so far!

Does not work in Zwift workout mode

This device does not work in Zwift's workout mode. Essentially becomes a $600 brick if you like doing interval workouts.

Attack The Climbs!

I was a bit skeptical getting this at first. After using it for a month now I can say I have no regrets. I wasn’t blown away like when switching from a dumb to smart trainer but it’s a nice improvement to my overall indoor training experience. It definitely encourages you to get out of the saddle more often & for longer durations, and that’s exactly what I wanted - to make me a better climber & help alleviate numbness and saddle sores. For the people complaining about delayed response to grade changes, they don’t understand that you must change your TRAINER DIFFICULTY TO 100% (Zwift default is 50%). Only then will you enjoy instantaneous changes, and the fun of rolling hills & painfully long climbs.

Amazing idea with bad quality control!

It was an utter enjoyment for 2 weeks!!! Then after my Summer vacation I get back to it and found out that it started malfunctioning: simply did not lift the front fork up under load - some helpless clicks from inside, indicating that it was intended to work, but could not. With no load it could lift it up, but absolutely incorrectly, not following the Program. It does a great job, when it works properly, the satisfaction can't even be described at that time as well as the disappointment when it fails that way. Exchanged it. So far works great. I recommended it to my friends before that failure and am very careful about that now, testing the replacement unit.

Perfect for long KICKR rides

The KICKR CLIMB does what it should. Fluid grade adjustments have made longer trainer rides more enjoyable. The change in incline goes along way to break up those long sessions. I had found that longer rides became uncomfortable, but the simulated grade helps to break that up. When riding in your favorite app, the KICKR adjusts fairly quickly to the grade making it much more realistic. I enjoy using the first person view in my favorite app along with the CLIMB for a more realistic, 'outdoorish' experience. The CLIMB is helping me to address my climbing weakness, and I am looking forward to the improvement it is helping me achieve for next season.

KICKR CLIMB Review

This is a luxury accessory. I was hesitant to buy it but I am pleased that I did. It adds a little extra to the experience of what can be sometimes dull indoor riding. I used it mainly with the FulGaz app for which it matched gradients, though with a slight delay compared to the video which may be more of a problem with the app that the CLIMB. The only other reason that I don’t give 5 stars is that it can be slightly noisy, rumbling felt through handlebars and responds to changes in gradient more in bursts of movement rather than smooth movement. Maybe future app and firmware updates may improve this. A good buy overall and enjoying it.

Awesome addition!

I have had the Kickr Climb for a couple of months and it's a great addition to my indoor training regime. I use it with Zwift and it responds immediately to changes in gradient making the rides more realistic. One thing to note if your using your climb with Zwift, if your trainer difficulty is not set at Max (100%), you will need to divide your wheel base by the difficulty setting (i.e. wheel base is 1011mm and trainer difficulty is 50%, 1011/ .50 = 2,022 )and input that number (2,022) in your Kickr Sensor in the Wahoo Fitness App. Once you've made this adjustment, the Climb responses to gradient changes will be immediate and accurate.

Enjoying Climb

Climb is incredibly easy to set up. It integrates really well with the kicker core I have. It makes Zwift even more addictive and fun. I find myself riding longer since the position changes. Its very quiet and I sometimes will look down to make sure its actually going up and down as its very subtle. I have only had it for 10 rides but I would highly recommend. Its really a blast on some of the hillier Zwift rides, especially rolling hills. On big decents i find myself tucking in as it feels that realistic. My review is purely on set up and experience as I cannot tell if its long term reliable. I had a kicker core die after 6 months. These products seem very delicate.

Great until it failed

I really like the Climb. It's a hugely unnecessary addition, but really nice for those who have the expendable income. I even prefer its feel to a front wheel when broken. BUT - the lift system did fail. 5 stars to REI for taking it back. I am contemplating whether to get another, but I have no doubt that it will also, eventually, fail.

KickR Climb - book still open

Still evaluating if this is worth the spend. On the surface, it does add to the riding experience, but not yet 100% sold. I have experienced several instances where the Climb adjusted to the max angle while riding in the absolute flats of Tempus Fugit of Zwift. This unexpected rise of the climb and getting stuck in this position made for a less than favorable experience. Also, putting 15-18 hrs of training in a typical week with no back issues found me re-injuring a back injury, so now wonder if the climb had some impact on that. Again, on the surface .. it is a great concept, just hasn't worked totally as expected yet. Post back recovery will put it through its paces again.

Couldn't be better!

I invested in my Kickr and Climb this past November. Having only trained on rollers and a dumb trainer I knew this was going to be an adjustment. Having never played video games the worst part of my new toys was getting used to watching a video of myself riding (I felt very nauseated until I got a few more rides in and acclimated). The combination of the Kickr and the Climb have transformed my workouts and early year season for the better. In the past I would skip or put off rides indoors because they bored me so much. No more. I'm engaged and challenged throughout. Good work Wahoo, this was no easy feat.

Great, until it wasn't.

I purchased the Kickr CLIMB in Nov. 2021. When it worked, it added a nice road "feel" to my Zwift rides, making them slightly less boring in winter. Then, the CLIMB stopped working in winter 2022. There was no raise or lower during rides, even though unit powered up and appeared to be communicating with my laptop. I have an email in to Wahoo customer support, to see if anything can be done. If not, oh well. I will not be buying a Wahoo product again, and I have a nice $600 door stop.
