I love Patagonia underwear! In fact it’s all I wear. I have three pairs of barely hipster underwear that I bought when they were in geo shapes and one pair of active briefs. This underwear saved my life because all the other underwear I’ve worn lately gave me unwanted wedgies! I bought a new pair in this new floral pattern and immediately got a wedgie ugh! I compared them to my previous pairs (all size medium) and they are bigger in the waist and leg holes. I’m so disappointed! I’m going to try and return them ASAP. I have no idea why they’d make their new underwear bigger in the same sizes. Maybe I’ll try a small.
Purchased two pairs of these in-store after a class and thought they were great. Until I used panty liners with them. The fabric does not release the adhesive, so the plastic backing of a panty liner or pad tears off. The plastic that remains stuck to the panties does not come off when they are laundered, either. I had to scrape it off with a finger nail after I washed the panties. The same thing happened with both pairs, so I don't think this was a fluke. Because it has happened a second time with one pair, I will be looking to return these. This is really a pity, because these panties felt great, all day long.
I've been wearing Patagonia panties for years. I'm 5'8" and 135 lbs, but I need to wear a L because otherwise it's too tight and I'm kinda sensitive. I used to get the active hipsters (in M, then L because of a change in cut), and they were a godsend until they changed the cut... Yet again. Happily, the 2017 Geo cut on the barely hipsters is great! No wedgies, stays put, wicks, and cute. Unfortunately, the cut on the 2018 floral results in instant wedgies. It seems to me that while once Patagonia had consistent make to their panties, this has not been the case for at least the past 5 years. I keep trying, but one pair at a time since it's impossible to count on one season being the same to the next.
I, like so many others, bought several Patagonia underwear several years ago when they were tag-less, and I loved them. A few years later, they changed the underwear for the worse- cost-cutting, I guess. This one has tags and feels smaller, more like a bikini. Every year, I check the Patagonia underwear to see if they went back to the old version after reading scores of reviews pleading with Patagonia to do so, while patching my old Patagonia underwear to try to make it one more year. I'm going to return these- not enough coverage, don't like the book of tags. Patagonia- Listen up- you could make an underwear fortune if you just go back to the old style and charge more to cover the extra cost- this is not Rocket Science! Listen to your customers!
I have several pairs of the prior geo design and they are the most comfortable underwear ever. Never tight, never rode up, no wedgies. I ordered 4 pairs of these floral pattern ones, all size medium. Even within the 4 pairs, there are 1/2" or more difference in waist size amongst them--no standardization. Compared to my older ones, I actually found these ones fit smaller not larger as mentioned by prior reviewer. Totally disappointed, these are all going back. If anyone finds the new perfect undies, let me know!
In polite response to the prior review, I have to say as a bigger hiker (size 14, 5'7", 165 lbs, curvy and muscular) I LOVE these Patagonia Barely Hipster Undies. It's hard for me to find undies that fit well, are comfortable, and don't look like granny panties. These are very comfortable, as they stretch but bounce back in all the right places. No binding, wedging or pinching on strenuous hikes, even when taking large climbing steps up and down or sitting/standing. I'm buying more.
I have counted on Patagonia underwear, the barely there and since the style change, I have not been happy with the new changes. The old were a wonderful material that lasted and washed well, could breath well and did not show under clothing. The bras appear to be in the old material, but no underwear. I have read other reviews and we all beg PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD VERSION!!!! At a higher price, I would definitely stock up!!!!!! I keep checking the site to see if they are back - and I have done so for years now! Please bring the old version back!!!!!!!!
I received a pair of these and a pair of the barely the bikini underwear to try out. If you're like me and are looking for underwear that can go with you from the office to the tail or pavement, then I would recommend the bikini over these. However, if your looking for underwear that will not give you a wedgie even with intense activity then these are calling your name. I tested these out on a variety of activities from running in the neighborhood, backpacking, to playing catch with my puppy and these stayed put and comfortable throughout all activity. They also kept me dry. The only down side to these is that that they were a bit high and thus did not feel as great with low rise pants.
These have been my favorite underwear for several years now, and each year I buy several more. I just ordered multiple pairs of these in my normal size and was disappointed to find that the cut/fit had changed. The geo pattern pairs I have from last year never rode up or gave me a wedgie, but these do almost immediately! I didn't even put them through a workout. I will be sending these back for sure and sadly looking elsewhere for my new go to undies.
I absolutely love my old patagonia undies- they were so amazing I didn't mind spending $22 a pair. These new ones with the floral design are a different cut. They're skimpy in the booty and I constantly have a wedgie. I am so disappointed. Please bring back the old design patagonia. Pretty please with a cherry on top. I do Not recommend these underwear.
