Nice shorts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not bad. Ordering was difficult because the size on the web page did not match the size chart. I like the shorts but the built-in belt can sometimes cause them to bunch up in front.

The belt ...

I have 3 pairs of the old (belt loop) arch rock pants. The material used is phenomenal for keeping your warm, sort of dry when light rain, but also not overheating. So I thought the shorts would be the same ... the belt is sucks no two ways around it. I thought I wouldn't mind it but after 6months+ its still annoying. If you tighten it where does the extra tail go. A lot of times I am trying to buckle (not looking) and I have the two "strings" twisted and clip it. Material, cut/inseam, sizing = great Belt = make me want to cry

Hate the new belt

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was soo happy to see they are offering the 9" inseam again, but the new belt is terrible. It feels cheap/flimsy and is much more awkward that a regular belt. It also has a bit of a bunching effect. I was annoyed by the longer inseam of the shorts the last few years, now they are back to the right inseam length but with the dumb belt. I love Arch rock pants and shorts I have 4 pairs of the pants and 3 pairs of the shorts. Please just bring back 9in inseam with regular belt loops.

Great fit and look

I'm very picky about shorts and their fit but these shorts not only look good but fit very well. I'm a 32 waist and they are a perfect fit for someone my size, 5'10 and 170lbs. I was really surprised because some of the more high end outdoor retailers have clothing that runs small, not the case here. I'm going to be picking up a couple other pairs in different colors shortly. My only complaint is the cost but if they last me a couple years, I wont be as caught up on that aspect.

Great if you have a belt!

Button fell off 2 pair the first time I wore them! Can’t believe the lack of quality control. I’ve been a huge fan of Marmot for years, but no more!

Really like these shorts. I've bought 4 pairs!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Interesting reading these reviews and many of the negative comments are actually why I like the shorts. The 9" inseam is perfect for shorter men. I enjoy the fact that I don't need the belt and honestly I never unclasp the ready made belt that is there. I've purchased 4 pairs of these and love them. They dry quickly and are super comfortable. If your looking for a fitted fit and athletic performance, these are your go to shorts. My favorites right now.

Good short, and good fit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased these on sale but have an older model with a longer inseam. I am about 5'-7" and did not like the longer inseam. These feel about right on my frame, I have a 30" inseam for reference. It is not want enough for shorts yet where I live so I have not really worn them out and used them hiking. I di wear them around the house and they fit great and the quality seems good. The have a snap instead of a button which I am suspect of. It is really a safer bet if you are out for a multiday hike that you have a button that can be repaired if damaged. I guess we will see how the snap holds up over time. I read a lot of complaints about the sown in belt but it does not bother me and actually works pretty well so don't let that stop you from buying. The belt was easy to latch and unlatch. Just get them and find some sun to enjoy them in!

The everything short

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts are perfect. I will typically wear a 35" with shorts like these, because they have stretch and don't really stay on well while hiking. I purchased the 36" and although it has stretch it is not overly stretchy and stays perfectly where it should stay while hiking, sitting, climbing, wading, and any other activity I do. Currently replacing all my hiking pants/shorts with Marmot products.

Perfect Fit and Excellent Design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts are excellent. The pockets are deep and easily accessible for your phone, wallet, or map. The stitching and material are made to last. I will wear these on and off the trail. I went with the slate grey, which will go great with the heather green Conveyor and varsity blue Windridge tee shirts I ordered as well. Marmot's sizing guide is precise--these shorts fit exactly as advertised.

Disappointed

Was really looking forward to using these shorts, but was unfortunately disappointed, for three reasons. Firstly, as noted by others, the belt is cumbersome and just not worth it; putting loops for a normal belt would be much better. Secondly, the snap button opens very easily, often when opening the zipper. Lastly, the "Marmot" logo is peeling off after just one wash. Really poor quality overall.
