These are fantastic! In the last two weeks I've put about 15 miles on 'em - rucking both off-road and on. It's winter here in Maryland, so I've trekked through much snow and ice, in addition to clay, mud, loose sand/gravel, grass, asphalt, and concrete. I'm 210lbs and carry a pack between 30 and 40 lbs. These shoes are super comfortable and my feet don't (at least at the distances I've used them for) fatigue at all. The tread is both grippy on multiple surfaces, and open enough that it doesn't clog with debris/mud. They're also very comfortable about the ankle and achilles. Additionally, they tighten well... better than some comparable shoes. The wider toe box is also welcomed. Snag these while you still can.
I bought these shoes less than 2 years ago, and within the first year they started to fall apart. The bottom traction pieces (white and orange) started coming loose and the light gray "mesh" material started developing holes. I've put 247 miles on these shoes, and no other shoes that I've had wear this poorly. Each shoe on the outside front area (near the small toe) developed holes. This happened in both shoes in the same exact place. This can't be a coincidence. Several other holes have developed in each shoe as well. The dark gray material is also not wearing well and has cracked. Each time I've worn these shoes I've cleaned them and let them dry, and still this is the condition of the materials. Now, each shoe's sole has pieces of the traction completely falling off. It seems like an adhesive or design flaw. These shoes are no longer wearable. I would not recommend them.
I wore these lightly, not as my main hiking shoe, but as casual shoe and some smaller hikes and once on a rugged hike, and the lighter color part of the sole started separating from shoe and started catching on things. I hate to return things that I've worn quite a bit but these are really falling apart prematurely. Luckily it's been less than a year. (I traveled for 4 months without them, so it's more like there are only 4 months old). Too bad because there were comfortable and looked good.
Have one pair I use regularly. Tried to obtain a second pair, eventually ordered three pairs online. First pair had a defective inner sole. Second pair was too big, same size 9 as first pair. Third pair was size 8.5, too small. Been wearing Merrell hiking shoes for over ten years. Their quality, comfort and sizing have been worse each recent year. Must have fired the QC personnel or just don't care about quality. Three strikes, I'm done with Merrell !!
super comfy and look great -- not just for hiking, I'm finding that I'm wearing them almost every day -- two thumbs up
I wanted to love these but they were very uncomfortable. I broke them in and did everything you are suppose to but they blisted the back of my foot and caused a bought with bursitis. Went back to my high and heavy hiking boot but really need something lighter and better for summer hikes. I ended up throwing the merrils away because i had tried to fight through the prob and had worn them a dozen times
Bought these for an upcoming trip to Utah. Plan on using these as my daily hikers in the desert. Have just worn them around town so far but they have proven to be super comfortable. Looking forward to testing them in Arches, Zion, Bryce, etc.
Love this shoe, except that I have less than 100 miles on them after three months and the soles are peeling off. In general falling apart after three months!
Bought these to wear to work, put in my custom insoles (for metatarsalgia) and am very happy. Good looking, comfortable and very light!
As stated in the above review this shoe has a nice wide toe box. Fit for me is great. Wear them all day every day.
