Setting the Benchmark for combo SPD and Platform
XT quality SPD fully sealed with top notch platform side for downhill where you may not be comfortable being clipped in or around town with flip flops. Streamline pedal provides broad concave platform so no cleat teetering on your spindle, made velcro like grippy with choice of long or short grip pins. For those who complain about not having right side up, it's not magic, that will always be a compromised for having both. Mine are deployed on a Fat CAAD 3 for winter riding. Big platform should I wear boots or SPD for my cleats. Yes SPD are not optimal for dealing with snow compared to some others but work well enough for me.
Very nice overall pedals
I really like these pedals, they hang vertical so not hard to find the side you want. They seem to be very solid although I have not had them too long. They pins on the flat side grip very well. I use the shorter pins and have no issues. I commute to work on my bike and have to wear steel toes for work as a diesel mechanic and it's nice to not have to change pedals all the time or change shoes before and after work. Highly recommend these pedals!
Decent for touring
Decent for touring, but the internals aren’t very robust. I should have returned them but didn’t want the hassle, the bushings on the left pedal started dragging within the first couple of months. Rebuilt them myself and had my LBS service them also but never spun well. Then last week the pedal just spun off of the spindle and is completely shot. I’ve had them for a couple of years but maybe had 400 miles on them. These may be solid pedals but I think I just got a lemon. All of my pedals are shimano because they’re normally bulletproof.
Easy in/out
So I am fairly new to clip-ins, and sort of fearful of not getting my feet clicked out of the pedals. I chose these pedals because they have 2 sides, so I can wear my clip ins or not, and because they are user friendly. So far, I really dig them. I have only worn them on two rides, so time will tell. BUT the non-clip-in side has these rivets that stick up, and help your feet stick to the pedals. The clips are easy enough to click into and out of. So far so good.
Fabulous, sturdy, light, versatile.
I'm coming up on 2 years on these pedals and I have an absence of complaints and a surplus of praise. Well worth the money. I love having clips on one side and flats (with great pin grips) on the other. I can clip in on long rides when I'm all decked out for the day or I can just hop on with my regular shoes and joyride whenever I feel like it. I can even run one shoe clipped and the other on the flat for quick on and off balance. These pedals never tell me no. I like that they're tough metal that can (and have) taken a few beatings but are also pretty light. They're good on the road, they're good on trails. There's a few options out there for dual-sided pedals like this, and these are towards the higher end of the scale price-wise but I've never regretted investing in quality in your contact points on the bike. Highly recommend these.
Love em
I put these on my touring/commuter bike and they're the best. My previous two-sided pedals were too small on the platform side, and very slippery when wet. These are super grippy with the pins, so I feel much safer at intersections and the light turns green...whatever side of the pedal my foot lands on is fine, I can futz with it after I get through the light. Also I can still ride in sandals to the pool, and the price is way better than a comparable CrankBros. pedal.
Great form and function.
I've used these pedals a couple times on my new fat bike. The ability for me to use warmer shoes on the platform side is nice. I swapped out the short pins for the longer ones included in the box and have endless grip. Initial impressions with the shoes I bought with them (PEARL iZUMi Men's X-Alp Canyon for warmer weather) are that they'll be a great option for dirt single track as well. I also like the fact that I can clean up the look by sliding out the reflectors, since they'll be used on trail-only bikes.
Best of both worlds
I use these on my gravel/all-road bike and couldn’t be happier. I use the clip side when I need smooth pedaling consistency and speed and when things get a bit sketchy, I flip to the flat side in advance so I can put a foot down without danger of the awkward slow fall. They come with two lengths of pins and I ended up keeping the stock set for better grip with my Giro Rumble soles.
Solid pedal
I shopped around for a good period and was skeptical of a two sided SPD pedal. However these have performed well after about 1500 miles on relatively rough dirt roads. Easy in and out, never inadvertent release, and finding the 'right' side is about 80-90% without much thought, and if the wrong side is found there is not that much loss of power even when getting restarted on a hill.
love them!
Great pedals. Stable platform on both sides. When clicked in, gives good foot support. The other side is grippy - no sliding around like I have experienced with other dual platform pedals. I am getting 2 more pair for other bikes.
