I bought these last week. Since then I climbed San Jacinto (long route 20+miles), Mt San Gorgonio (long route 28+miles and with microspikes up the back in snow), and Mt White (snow, water etc). These shoes are versatile, very water resistant, have terrific heal strike, mid foot support and a roomy toe box which combined with stiff eyelets and arch mean my foot does not move forward downhill and I have plenty of toe room, no squashed toes or worse. One of the best alround shoes I have ever worn and I do a LOT of hiking over tough terrain.
I just bought these but they are the most comfortable shoes I've gotten in a long time! They hug my feet but don't make them sweat! Can't wait to get them out on the trails more. I wear a size 12 and the fit is as expected. True to size.
I have serious foot issues. I m 45, have flat feet and bunions, and a bad ankle due to having drop foot. These shoes made my feet feel like they're being hugged with every step, even after miles on the trail, no exaggeration. For the last few years my feet have been sore and painful after hiking, and these shoes changed that. They are super waterproof, great traction, and tough as heck. I would give 7 stars if I could.
Purchased online and I had to return them, I wear a 11.5 wide ( sized US) in my merrell Moab shoes. These shoes were waaaay narrow even more so than a Moab 11.5 non wide. Bummed out they didn't fit, they looked well made and felt like good quality.
I haven't put many miles in these yet but they have been very comfortable so far. You can tell the quality in the build of them is really good too. It's a nice shoe that I am looking forward to many hikes in. My only gripe would be the shoe laces. They seem pretty thin and I can see them wearing out fast. Not a hard thing to swap out though.
We hiked about 40 miles in Glacier National Park over varying terrain. There was no break-in period for me and no discomfort in the shoe. They did an excellent job keeping out water and snow.
Best fitting hiking shoe I've bought. Size 10.5 is normally just a smidge short on me, but these fit perfectly. I hiked a 14 mile rough trail, with elevation gain/loss on the first day - no issues. Great sidewall support, heel cup, and aggressive traction. All synthetic so dries quickly. Looking to buy another pair from other retailers - seems to be discontinued at REI. Bought this pair on REI store discount rack.
I bought these for disc golf after returning another brands shoes that claimed to be waterproof. After several rounds I am loving these shoes. Very comfortable right out of the box and definitely water proof. I wore these three days in a row in wet conditions and had no issues with saturation or leakage. If I had one complaint it would be that these could be lighter. But they are by no means heavy shoes.
These shoes in size 8 fit me perfectly, I am female and normally take a mens size 8 as my feet are a bit wide. I was going to order a womens size 10 but the womens reviews stated the same shoe was narrow. I am vegan so i wanted these as they are vegan. These fit like a glove and hug my feet. They do seem very sturdy, maybe a bit narrow for men, and perhaps a bit stiff. I would love more cushion in the bottom so maybe shoe pads will work, but great shoes overall. I just had them out for 6 mile walk. I like REI for the quality they offer.
i mostly used these for an every day walking shoe with some light out door activities. they performed perfectly for the first 6 months and started failing after that. The toe on the right foot started peeling away from the soul and both have lost the "waterproofness" and my feet get wet after a few steps in dew covered grass.
