Only kid sandal I buy
I have 4 boys, ages 14 down to 3. While preparing for spring, I took my pile of Keens out of the closet - there were 6 pair in sizes big kid 5 down to toddler 9. No other shoes survive being passed down at my house. I've tried expensive Stride Rite sandals and the Velcro can't survive one season. I think Keens average 3 summers of hard daily use in our family. My neighbor with 4 kids and I just showed each other our Keen stashes. Their only flaw is that the size label rubs off. When my kid outgrows a pair, I can't order the next size online unless I know what size I currently own. Hardy. Versatile. As soon as the snow melts in MN, my kids refuse to wear anything else.
Could not Return
These Sandals didn't last 4 months before the fabric at the back of the heal started to tear. To make matters worse, attempted to return and were told I could not due to wear and tear. "Kids are hard on shoes." Gimme a break. Kids may be hard on shoes, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't make it through a summer before falling apart! I'm disappointed in the quality Keen is imparting to these shoes, and in REI for not standing by there Satisfaction Guarantee.
All terrain for kids
My 6year old loves these. This is her second pair of this style. My kids all wear these in the summer for camping and all the time. The best part is they are easy to clean and breathable, so no stinky feet smell coming from the back seat on road trips. These are a must for kids, the only shoe they need for summer fun!
Comfortable and sturdy
I am an adult female who fits the youth size 5 (similar to a woman's size 7). The youth shoes are slightly wider than the women's, so they are a better match for my foot shape. I tried both the youth Seacamp II CNX and these Newport H2 and preferred the cushioning/foot-bed shape on these. The youth Newport H2's do not seem as clunky/stiff as the adult version (as well as being slightly wider). I bought the Newport H2's to replace a pair of Seacamp's which I had worn out after several years of near-continuous use.
Great breathable and adjustable shoe for outdoors
This is my first-ever Keen purchase. I needed a water shoe durable enough for a whole day outside and with unpredictable weather (last time I was stuck in soggy sneakers all day). These popped up in my Facebook feed in the Rainbow tie-dye and I decided to give them a shot. I also checked reviews for fit, etc. I bought the kids version for myself (sized a big kid's 5 to fit a women's 7). I thought I'd miss the open heel, but so far so good! I like that they are breathable and adjustable, and there's enough lift for my high inner arch. I haven't tested them in sloppy weather yet but the material looks like it will hold up and drain well. I knocked off one star because the color is unpredictable...being a tie-dye print it won't look just like the picture (mine had more yellow).
A go to shoe
I purchased these for both of my daughters. Ages 6 and 4 at this point. The only trouble I have is my children will grow out of them faster than I desire. We have used these on many adventures hiking, creek walking, going to the fair, backpacking, and so on. Because the kids are small they don't need something heavy for support. They are easy for the kids to put on independently. They were comfortable for long periods and held up longer than we will be able to use them. When we are done with them we will be able to pass them through our church network of hand-me-downs. I've little doubt these will serve many youngsters.
Kids love them
This is not our first pair of Keens. We bought a different pair for our kids about 2 years ago. Needless to say, they grew out of them, so we needed to upgrade. Yes, kids feet do grow fast, but for as much as our kids wear them, these shoes are well worth purchasing. We love that their toes are protected, yet feet are breathable. Also, comfortable to wear. As with any shoe, be sure to break them in before going on a longer journey. I also bought some Keens because my kids love theirs, but didn't like them at first because I developed a blister. They only rubbed a little for about the first 3 times I wore them. Now, they are also my favorite shoe and I have no problems at all!
Great water sandals!
Love these so much that I just bought a pair last year to replace my first pair from 2009. The old pair is still in great shape, but the outsoles had hardened some from 13 years’ of time. The new ones feel more cushioned (obviously). I can’t bring myself to toss the old pair though, so I still wear them. The shape of the shoe has changed in 13 years. I attached a photo of the old (red) and new (blue) pair on my feet for comparison. It is now more narrow and longer. But it still fits well. I wear a women’s 7.5-8 sandal and the big kids’ size 6 is great. I like that these are waterproof and can be hosed off easily. I also prefer the velcro closure and the closed heel only found on the kids’ version.
7 years old is when hand-me-downs stop
We love keens and have had the kids in their Newport or similar style since they were walking. They’ve held up well but seven years old seems to be the year they shred them instead of passing them down to their younger brothers. Got about nine months of hard wear out of them
LOVE my Keens!
I have worn adult Keens (H2, Whisper, Targee) for years due to their great support and function, but recently discovered I can wear kids sizes. They are always comfortable right out of the box. I got a pair of kids Newport H2's in 2016 and they are still in great shape. I just had to buy the BeesWax pattern because they are so cute and will go with everything. I love to wear these shoes when traveling - perfect for airports for easy on/off and for luggage moving with the toe protection. I wore Keens and alternated with Chacos for Disney last year and my feet did not hurt at all. So easy to clean, and I get so many compliments on them!
