Very comfortable but short lived
I bought a pair of these and like them so much that they practically the only shoe I wore last summer. Unfortunately, the strap by the heel on the outside where you seen the yellow KEEN emblem in the picture broke loose from the sole on one of the shoes. I took them back to REI where they were very graciously replaced but the replacement pair has already broken in the same way and the season is just getting underway. I wear them a lot of hours but I am 56 years old with bad knees and haven't even done any hiking, just walking the dog and basic yard work. The soles have very little visible wear. I have had $20 shoes last much longer. I really like the fit and function of these shoes but expect more life from a premium shoe.
From France to Slovakia
I’ve just walked from the French/Swiss border at Geneva to Bratislava, Slovakia. The Rialto Sandals were my only footwear for the whole trip across all of Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria. The trip included multiple major mountain passes. Although the sandals were showing signs of wear and tear at the end of the long walk, I think in general they performed very well. The soles in particular held up exceptionally well while the inner footpads started falling apart along with some of the stitching. One aspect that I really like is the Velcro closure at the back of the sandal, unfortunately Keen seams to no longer have this closure in their lineup.: this is a pity as it gives more flexibility with sock choices. Re sizing: I always up-size my trekking footwear by 1.5 sizes to accommodate the width and swelling of my feet. I’ve used size 11.5 sandals on multiple through-hikes and have never had a blister. Bottom line: the Rialto is a wonderful 1000 mile trekking sandal. Keep making them.
Pining for the good old days.
I recently purchased and had to return three different pairs of Keen sandals. I have currently four pairs and have owned probably over 20 pairs in my lifetime. Every single one of those was a size 12. Now, size 12 does not fit me anymore. Size 13 is way too big. Coincidentally, I still wear size 12 in all other brands so it is unlikely that it is my feet that have changed. I really have to wonder what has changed. Quality of Keen seems to have gone downhill in addition to sizing being inconsistent. No one at Keen will tell me what is going on or confirm that cheaper less quality suppliers are now being used to manufacture their shoes. Total bummer!
Most comfortable footwear I've ever used.
I have unusual wide feet with a narrow heel. These are the only footwear that have given me instant comfort and lasting support. The first response from my friends was that they look great.
There best Sandel
I did a lot of research because I have been wearing keen sandals boots hiking shoes for a long time. I notice that some of the sandals are not made with the same quality and fit as others. I believe they are no longer making the Rialto wich is made in America I had a pair and wanted new ones I wanted the same ones that’s when I realized they are hard to find and if you do they will be at a bargain price because distributors are trying to get rid of them. They are the best sandal keen has and they are going bye bye so catch them while you can
Comfortable support for light hiking and everyday
I bought these Keen Men's Rialto Sandals about a month ago to wear at Breitenbush Hot Springs in Oregon — I mean, they may be the only thing I'm wearing at times at the hot springs, so what are polite people to look at except one another's footwear. They won't be disappointed. Anyway, I'd guess that I've worn the Rialtos almost every other day since I bought them. They're that comfortable and supportive. I'm fortunate to have feet which are of apparently average proportions, except perhaps that my heels may be a bit more narrow than average. And that was my concern: Would the heel strap offer enough adjustment to securely hold my heel in place? No problem. They're easily adjustable, and they fit perfectly! I like the boxed toe with the rubber toe cover for a couple reasons: I don't like stubbed toes when hiking and, frankly, the toe box allows me to wear the sandals in settings where open toed footwear might be a bit too casual. The construction by the good folks in one of my favorite cities, Portland, is substantial and attractive, and I suspect that they will prove enduring. The only minor negative I've noticed is that, once the elasticised lacing has been adjusted for proper fit, there's a lot of spare lacing. But it's easily tucked beneath the lacing crossovers so that it doesn't flap around.
Excellent Sandals
Just received my order of Rialto Sandals. They fit great and are very comfortable! I love that it is mostly black. The footbed feels great! These sandals are replacing a pair of Keen Newport H2 which has served me well for several years! I’m looking forward to wearing these Rialto Sandals for a long time! These sandals are running 1/2 a size smaller! Initially, they feel less roomy than my old Newport H2, but with some break-in time, I think they’ll be perfectly comfortable!
Comfort for my tender tootsies.
Kinda expensive. Very comfortable. A little different than my last pair of Keen sandals. We'll see how the velcro heel straps perform one a closed heel. So far, so good.
Great But Not Excellent
Recently I have experienced swelling in my feet which has required compression socks and larger shoes. Kenn has great toe box room and I decided to buy their sandals to allow my swollen feet to be in "shoes" of some kind. The only complaint I have is with the Velcro on the rear strap. It wants to catch my socks before I can move the strap out of the way. Otherwise the sandals work great for the warmer days but they will need to be replaced by shoes for the colder weather.
The best I've owned
Keen claims these are durable, even say that in the title. Well I'm on year 4 with my Rialto H2 and they still look nearly new. I just purchased the CNX ll just to have something different and my wife now has her 1st pair of Keen's. I'm hard on my footwear and sneakers don't last a year, wifey is a believer in Keen's durability considering I refuse to buy another brand of sandals and how much abuse I've put them through and they are still going strong.
