Used this roof rack system on a perfect condition 2015 GMC on a cross country trip, followed all the directions and things set up very easily pretty great! However during the trip somewhere along the way the rubber stopper on the inner foot of the front right clip split from itself and the glue and in turn (since the directions are to tighten ~ every 500miles) when I tightened the system it bent, literally bent!, the frame of the car! Obvsiouly the split was inside and I didn't see it until I took the whole system off... What the heck now?? Before this I was very please although this was the first trip with thos system . Would reccomend but be aware!!

Rubber splits and clips come loose from car!

Had these for a year. Were on my car for 3 months last summer and back on 2 months ago. Seemed to be fine, but noticed today that the rubber between the base clip and car has torn on all 4 right at the bend and the clips are starting to slip off. I took everything off, tried to move the rubber back together and put everything back on hoping it will hold. Next step is to open a case with Yakima. so BEWARE! Check your clips often to make sure they are holding! I have to give only 1 star. If your gear flys off your car, it's bad. Yakima has always sold premium products that are not cheap! I expected more.

I like it but....

The clips have actually made the plastic strip on my car bubble up between the clip on the front door and the back door on both driver and passenger side. Not a huge deal but cosmetically doesn’t look good. I would say I probably installed them wrong but I paid to have REI install them for me.

Great rack system!

The complete rack system is bomb proof. Added the rack to my 2012 f150 so I take the kayaks while pulling the camper. I did not need the cradles as the kayaks fit side by side. No movement at 75 mph with strong 40 mph cross wind!

Not secure on F 150

Baseclip used on front of f150 crew. clips do not secure rack to roof. Has come off 3 times. Once flying off truck completely scratching the roof of my truck. Have been using Yakima racks for 30 years. Very disappointed particularly with the premium price paid for Yakima.

Unsafe, do not use.

I got these as part of the bigger rack system for a 2016 Toyota Prius. The rear clips (different clips) and system works well. These clips are for the front rack and slip off of the vehicle. In addition to incorrect measurements given by Yakima for the width to place the towers, these clips do not have enough of an angle to connect to the vehicle. The bottom needs to be less than a 90 degree angle. They slip off because there isn't enough surface area with grip. They need to develop a different bracket.

Keeps losing its grip

I have attached the base line and clips according to the installation instructions and the clips continues to slip from its hold and the rubber padding has come off. I purchased it a month ago and I'm very unhappy at present.

Does not fit the roof of the F-150 well

The clip fits the roof towards the front very well but, will not grip the back very well. When I installed my rack it was holding pretty good, even though the Baseclip would not wrap around under the door frame very well. However, the rack eventually came off. Yakima has yet to respond to any of my emails. It has been over 2 months since I first started emailing them.

Dangerous product, unstaisfactory remedy

Echoed - do not buy. The rubber pads separate from the clips and the rack will come off. The best I could get out of REI/Yakima on this is returning the defective clips; meanwhile I am stuck with hundreds of dollars invested in the rest of a rack that I cannot safely use.

It Is What It Is

Was a little scared if this would scratch my car paint so I went out to buy this vinyl on amazon for $15 to place under the claps. Another thing I would have to say is that the measurements are rather a rough estimate for where the claps and clips should go.
