What started as a company making canvas boat covers all changed when a teenage kid who’d become one of the world’s best surfers requested board shorts made in the same material. Katin, named after the couple who created these surf trunks, soon became a household and ocean-sized named in the surfing community. Along with surfer apparel, Katin also sponsored early surf contests, provided surfing scholarships and never sold out to larger manufacturers when they came knocking. Today, Katin remains a staple of Southern California culture and continues its commitment to selling high-quality, durable goods from shorts to hats to shirts, on the beach and beyond.
