With longer nights and Halloween fast approaching, even the great outdoors can seem a little creepy at times. In this spirit, the folks at the Mother Nature Network offer up this list of the 8 creepiest places in U.S. national parks.

As you might expect, there are a couple of ghost-ridden battlefields in this list, plus a number of interesting local legends (the Jersey Devil!) and apparitions aplenty. While I can’t confirm or deny any of the claims, the places chosen appear to offer some scenic excuses for enjoying a slightly spooky Halloween hike.
