Good news for fans of the nature footage that serves as the reflective sendoff to each episode of CBS Sunday Morning: You can finally find a selection of past clips more easily online.
The long-running Sunday newsmagazine always concludes with a splendid little parting gift unofficially known as Nature, a meditative moment free of commentary that focuses a videographer's eye on some lovely, lonely corner of the world and allows nature to speak for itself.
It usually lasts a minute or less, and to me offers an unspoken reminder that whatever tumult and hubbub we humans stir up, nature adheres to its own rhythms and remains reassuringly indifferent to all our bluster and brouhahas. If you're like me, you probably watch each segment wishing you were part of the crew carrying the videographer's spare battery.
Is anyone else out there a fan of these short but sweet clips? If so, here's a happy discovery I made not long ago: Though these Nature segments have not routinely been available online in the past, the television network recently began adding a few clips to its news website.
Available now: an "extended play" clip (3 minutes of footage) captured in Grand Teton National Park. Alas, we can't do anything about the 30-second ad that plays prior to the scenes from the park (sorry), but if you're in search of a new way to briefly activate the Refresh button on your brain, give it a try.
