REI Co-op 2026 Pride Collection Inspired by Artist Alva Skog

As Pride Month approaches, REI Co-op is reaffirming its year-round commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ communities and expanding access to the outdoors for all. From partnerships and advocacy to creating welcoming store experiences and supporting our employees, this work is part of how we show up every day. 

We bring that commitment to life through Made with Pride, including products from REI Co-op and the brands we carry. For 2026, we partnered with illustrator Alva Skog, a nonbinary artist whose bold, playful work explores identity and connection and felt like a natural fit for the collection, with designs translated across products by REI’s in-house team. The assortment also expands into technical gear, alongside products from LGBTQ+ owned and founded brands. 

"For REI Co-op Outside with Pride 2026 I wanted to illustrate queers resting in nature together while their bodies become like the landscape itself,” said Alva Skog. “My hope is that this little image will spark inspiration to spend more time outdoors together and a reminder that rest is resistance.”

For REI, Pride is an always-on, year-round focus. We remain committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and affirming space for all people. Throughout Pride Month and beyond, we are focused on ensuring that LGBTQ+ employees feel safe, seen and supported at the co-op.

Some efforts include: 

Creating local outdoor experiences that bring people together. REI is celebrating Pride through movement, reflection spaces, and gatherings designed to build connection, belonging, and shared time outside. Here are a few upcoming moments:

Taking collective action to support the Equality Act: The continued attacks on LGTBQ+ rights underscore the urgent need for federal non-discrimination protections to finally extend to all LGBTQ+ people. The Equality Act would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, public accommodations, education and more. With the REI Cooperative Action Network, anyone can join us in urging Congress to pass the Equality Act.

Support for transgender and nonbinary employees: The co-op has engaged in numerous efforts to foster an atmosphere where employees feel comfortable living and sharing their gender identity and expressions. This includes honoring employees’ names and pronouns, in-depth resources to help managers maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive people, and access to gender-affirming healthcare. REI works to create a workplace where employees can show up as their full selves. This includes inclusive policies and benefits, employee-led Inclusion Networks like PRISM, and resources that help leaders foster a culture of respect, belonging, and inclusion.

Longstanding partnerships with organizations working to achieve LGBTQ+ equality: REI supports LGBTQ+ communities through year-round partnerships, programs, and storytelling that expand access to the outdoors. This work focuses on collaborating with community partners and investing in experiences and organizations that help more people feel a sense of belonging outside. Through the REI Cooperative Action Fund, we’re proud to support organizations like The Venture Out Project, Brave Trails, and Inclusive Outdoors Project, helping expand access to life outside through community-led, affirming outdoor experiences. 

Safe and respectful spaces in every store: We are committed to creating welcoming environments across all our community spaces. Our Safe Spaces Policy sets clear expectations for respectful behavior and makes clear that discrimination of any kind is not tolerated in our stores. It also equips employees and managers with the tools and guidance to address discrimination and support an inclusive experience for everyone.
