Clearing the snot from your nasal passages while you’re riding is a vital cycling skill. After all, you’ll need that oxygen flowing in and out of your lungs in an unimpeded fashion for maximum aerobic efficiency.
To follow, find REI’s official 4-step “snot rocket” technique.
Step one: Use the index finger to close one nostril.
Step two: Check over your shoulder for other riders to avoid unintentionally hitting them with a snot rocket.
Step three: Tuck your head under your arm (same side as plugged nostril) and blow hard.
Step four: Breathe freely.
