Bitten by the Bug

I’d just been thinking that it’s been way too long since I last hit the road on a new adventure when my colleague James sent this along to me. I thought you might appreciate it…

Travel Bug

I have to warn you.
You may not want to get too close,
or even read this,
as I think I’m infected
by the travel bug.
After going on an adventure
to Belize
about nine years ago,
the moment I returned,
I was perusing the REI Adventures catalog,
checking out the website,
trying to figure out
where I was going next.
Since then,
I’ve kayaked next to glaciers in Alaska,
hiked on the Cycladic islands near Greece,
photographed giant land tortoises in the Galapagos,
and so much more.
I went to my doctor
to see if I was
truly infected,
if there was a possible cure,
and I must have given him
the travel bug too.
He suggested that I travel again
as soon as possible,
and he began planning his own vacation
as I was walking out the door.

Now, if you’ve made it this far,
I hate to break it to you,
but you now likely have
the travel bug too.
You may not notice
any difference at first,
but you’ll soon start daydreaming
about your own adventures,
hiking in the Grand Canyon,
or cycling in France,
and before you know it,
you’ll have booked your flights
and be on your way.
Just be aware that
there doesn’t seem
to be any cure,
but with all the fun I’m having
I’m okay with that.

Anybody else out there bitten by the travel bug?  Where are you off to next?

Oh my goodness YES I've been bit. It happen around April. Out of no where I just started itching to GO. Somewhere. Anywhere. My symptoms where not helped by watching and reading "Into the Wild". Made the bug worse! I have so many places I want to go to but with little time or money right now. And it kills me! ;)

Actually, I hope I never get rid of the bug.
