Yosemite's Half Dome Cables: Open for Hiking, Open for Comment

You can now climb the cables on Half Dome in Yosemite National Park -- and, through June 25, you can comment on their future, too. Cables that help hikers climb a steep, 400-foot ascent of Half Dome's north-facing shoulder just went up June 16. It's the first day in the 2010 hiking season that visitors have been able to climb to Half Dome's 8,842-foot summit.
