About National Scenic & National Historic Trails

Map of the National Scenic and Historic Trails across the United States

This fall, REI is donating $1 million to trails through our collaboration with the nonprofit Partnership for the National Trails System.

National Scenic Trails include iconic routes such as the Pacific Crest Trail, Appalachian Trail and the Continental Divide Trail, and National Historic Trails commemorate historic paths of travel that shaped the U.S. such as the Oregon Trail, Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, and Trail of Tears. All trails are long-distance routes, with at least one trail in every state.
