M. John Fayhee, a longtime contributor to Backpacker magazine, is the author of 13 books. He has hiked the Appalachian, Colorado and Arizona trails, as well as the Colorado section of the Continental Divide Trail. His international thru hikes have included such iconic footpaths as Iceland’s Laugavegur, the Inca Trail in Peru, the MacLehose in Hong Kong and, most recently, Corsica’s GR20. Fayhee lives in New Mexico’s Gila Country, where he tries to not get too old too fast.
