Author Bio

Eileen Guo

Eileen is a freelance writer and obsessed climber. Based, in theory, in New York City, she much prefers the high deserts of the American Southwest and the newly developed routes of Western China to the urban jungle. Her writing focuses on how our connections to place and culture shape beliefs, identity, and behavior in the modern world, and appears regularly in the New York Times and Nikkei Asian Review. Writing about climbing and the outdoors gives her an additional thrill though, as she knows that it’s the closest she’ll ever get to being a professional climber.
