What does it mean when running shoes have “zero drop?” This Science of the Outdoors infographic gives you the lowdown.

Zero Drop Shoes

Drop is the difference in thickness of the sole under the heel compared to under the toe. Traditional running dhoes have a drop of 12 millimeters. Minimalist running shoes have “zero drop” from heel to toe. This encourages a more natural midfoot or forefoot strike.
