Turn fear into fascination with Sharks 101, a lively 90‑minute experience that brings Florida’s sharks and rays to life. Join us for vivid stories from the field, a clear, behind‑the‑scenes look at how researchers perform shark workups and why those measurements matter, and practical tips for safe, respectful human‑shark interactions. The program finishes with hands‑on biofacts; shark jaws, a full skeleton, real teeth with an ID guide, and textured shark skin to feel dermal denticles. Participants leave curious, confident, and ready to protect the ocean’s top predators. Minorities in Shark Sciences (MISS) provides a community and funded opportunities for gender minorities of color who wish to enter the field of marine and shark sciences. MISS fundraises and apply for grants to create paid opportunities for our members such as camps, fellowships, and collaborative research programs. Their programs are fully funded in an attempt to remove the financial barriers into marine sciences that are so often in the way of gender minorities of color pursuing a career in it.
