Join author David Ryan as he highlights some of New Mexico’s most remarkable places to explore on foot. Home to three of the nation’s 26 UNESCO World Heritage Sites—Carlsbad Caverns, Chaco Culture, and Taos Pueblo—New Mexico offers windows into geology, sky, history, and living culture you won’t find anywhere else. Add volcanic mesas, high desert canyons, alpine forests, and petroglyph lined trails, and you have a landscape that rewards curious hikers at every turn. In this presentation, David will share both celebrated destinations and hidden corners worth planning a trip around, offering fresh ideas for hikes, wanderings, and road trip adventures throughout the Land of Enchantment. About our speaker: David Ryan moved to New Mexico in 1998 after completing the 2,180-mile Appalachian Trail, and is the author of Wandering in the Clear Light of New Mexico and the co-author of 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles: Albuquerque. He writes about hiking and exploration at his blog, The Gentle Art of Wandering (www.gentleartofwandering.com), and will have books available for purchase and signing at the event.
