Step deep into the heart of Yosemite National Park and experience its wild backcountry through the eyes of someone who helped protect it. In this inspiring in-store presentation, trailblazing ranger Laurel Boyers shares stories from a remarkable career spent traversing nearly the entire park, often on horseback, while safeguarding one of America’s most iconic landscapes. As Yosemite’s first woman Wilderness Manager and the first woman to conduct full-time mounted backcountry patrols, Laurel broke barriers while helping shape the future of wilderness management. Her experiences reveal what it takes to protect fragile places, make hard decisions in remote terrain, and build a lifelong connection to land that continues to inspire awe in everyone who visits. About our speaker: Laurel Boyers is a longtime National Park Service ranger and the first woman to serve as Wilderness Manager at Yosemite National Park, with decades of experience protecting its backcountry on foot and horseback. She is also the author of Across Yosemite’s Wilderness, a memoir chronicling her trailblazing career and deep connection to the park.
